Ones you like that aren't that well known. I don't really hear Kid Gavilan vs Gil Turner much and i thought that was a great fight to watch
British fighters... Len Harvey, Jock McAvoy, Bert Gilroy, Jim Brady, Jack Casey, Arthur Danahar, Alex Lafferty, Joe Bowker, Ginger Sadd, Ernie Roderick, Dick Turpin, Eric Boon, Johnny McGrory and others too, should be globally known among serious boxing fans. These lads were as good as any fighters at their respected weight divisions in the history of boxing. also Canadians, Vic Foley, Sonny Jones, excellent fighters and a prime example of just how good and tough these men were back in this busy bygone era.
tough little MW but sadly just a step too far for the little guy trying to beat the BIG guy. It has been done and it does get done, but very rarely at TOP level, the best Big guys are too much for the top littlemen! good effort though, it wouldn't even be allowed in modern boxing, a fighter fighting up like that while still obviously a weight division or more below his opponent, and just as well too.
**** modern boxing. Look how Walker responded to Schmeling's big right hand; jumped up and charged him!
I watched Mike Watson vs Mike Macallum the other day in years and it was alot more competitive than i remember. Watching it as a kid it seemed Watson got smashed and i was gutted but it is a tremendous fight.Well worth watching for anyone who hasn't.
Jeff Fenech vs Marcos Villasana. Really, really good fight and available on youtube only on fleaBoxing along with the almost as good Fenech-Mario Martinez :good
Arguello vs Ganigan is another classic that doesn't get talked about enough for mine. http://youtu.be/Kkfi1LMsKGs
Fenech Vs Villasana is a truly great fight. With all the praise for MAB-Morales I, Vasquez-Marquez series and now Bradley-Provodnikov I cannot see why it doesn't have a better reputation! NEEDS more viewers. Brilliant fight.
Bennie Briscoe - Rodrigo Valdez II is a lovely fight, if I can describe it that way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWmvfAIqXa4
