David Haye returns 7/6. Povetkin most likely candidate.

Why would Povetkin take such a risky fight, being so close to his biggest payday, and the very real chance of becoming a unified champion, all be it an extremely slim chance. Makes no sense to me, though I'd love to see the fight. I just don't see Povetkin's team allowing this to happen after passing up this payday twice before, and waiting 3+yrs for another shot.

Anybody else think Haye waits for Solis to beat Larsen, and try's to avenge his earlier lose?? That seems 100% more likely to me.

But he could potentially make just as much money against Haye, in a fight he has more chance of winning and if he did the Wlad fight would still be there for him.

 

Vitali clearly doesn't want to fight/lose against Haye so this is a good move from the Hayemaker on his way to getting the rematch with Wlad

 

I'd doubt it. You know Wlad and K2 are going to put down another whopping purse bid, to ensure their network gains the right to fight, which I could imagine can be somewhere around 10mill. Could he make over 2mill fighting Haye?

Don't see Haye trying really hard to convince Povtekin to take the fight, when Haye could easily sell the rematch vs Solis for cheaper or another fight vs. a top contender. It would still help him move up the rankings as well. Haye is already positioned very well in most the Orgs rankings, that he doesn't necessarily have to fight the #1 to gain, and over take one, and become mandy.

That being said, I'd rather the Povtekin fight then any that I mentioned.

 

Heck I wouldn't mind Thompson even, if Haye can't get anyone better.

Povetkin and Wlad planned a big stadium fight this summer.

Dont get me wrong, Povetkin-Haye is one of the best matchups in the division, imo. But Povetkin never showed any desire to fight Haye. Tszyu always said their goal is Wladimir this summer.

I would be very surprised if this one goes down. Tony Thompson would be a good choice for Haye. I mean why the **** not?

Never understood why Haye never chose to fight Fury or Price before. These are moneymakers on domestic level. Very winnable fights for Haye and he can be sure the Klitschkos would want to fight him again if he proves himself.

 

Heavyweights that are actually the same size actually made pretty decent fights. Fights gyts 6'8 and 250lbs is always a boring affair. Would be nice for them to split the divisions.

Many people would whine about this fight but that would be a smart fight for Haye given the circumstances. Plus there would be solid trashtalking from both lads just like our dear Brits love it :good

I'm in agreement that this Povetkin talk just seems bizarre really. Although the one thing that Haye might on his side is PPV, which means he can pretty offer an opponent more money than anyone in the division.

As for Prize and Fury - there is no way that either of their teams would have put their novice fighters in with someone of Haye's caliber. They're (perhaps were) trying to develop them and guide them to a title - putting either of those prospects in with an experienced world class fighter with power would have been a stupid move.

I think we'll see someone like Thompson - which would be a bit of a **** fight but would sell. The Povetkin fight would be like Christmas come early for boxing fans really. A genuine pick'em fight that should be exciting.

 

Since I don't see Povetkin taking the fight, and with Povetkin the mandatory in the WBA, and Haye already rated #1 behind the two champs. Combined with the fact the WBA will then have to wait before making another mandatory defense of probably a 1-1.5yrs. Maybe Haye will go for the Mandy through a different Org.

So maybe Haye might try for a Jennings fight to move up in the IBF rankings or go for a Boystov fight to move up in the WBO

 

Povetkin's management would be stupid to cash him out against Haye. He'd run a high risk of losing a much bigger payday in the summer against Wlad (a very big fight in Russia).

I can see Haye take one of the many soft WBA-ranked opponents like Wawryck, Pudar, Kaufman, Towers, Oquendo, or De Mori. He might fight the faded Chagaev, defenseless Abdusalamov or plodding Ustinov.

He'll avoid the better WBA-ranked heavyweights like Wilder, Ortiz, Boytsov, and Banks.

 

Because he is better?

 

Because K2 are renowned for their generous paydays aren't they . . .
