I still need a reliable source confirming a career high payday for Ward to fight Bute in America. That said, here's my question to you. Did Bute beat anyone worth mentioning to date?

I expect these kinds of responses from women. Try answering that question.

Of course not! Can't believe this thread has been discussed to this length.

Bute 's only claim to fame was he was a belt holder since 07 ,and was ranked highly in the division for fighting no one but being undefeated ! The world saw what happened once he stepped in the ring with a live dog ..The movie I believe was called "EXPOSED "!

I have no reliable source, sorry, I'm just judging by the steady flow of cash flow that Bute brings to the table for his opponents. At the time, that would of been a HUGE fight also, with that said, that is my justification. No source though.

To your question. I think any B+ boxer is worth mentioning. No he did not beat the best (Ward, Froch, Kessler), but he beat opponents they struggled with. I don't agree on the triangle theory either btw but it holds a bit of weight.

He's beaten some good fighters, but not the best fighters. He didn't really have the chance yet except for Froch.

If he can offer guys like Ward career high paydays,he would most definitely have "had the chance" if he wanted it Carrera.

I know he's your pal but let's not pretend he's been unfairly avoided. If he brings that much money then he could've got a big fight before Froch, regardless of the S6.
Hopkins could've made 168 up until a couple years ago.And that's only one example.
He stepped up and sadly for him,he wasn't up to it,but he could've stepped up before. It's not about "chance"

At first I thought you were trolling, but now I realise you're just stupid, I'll cut you some slack

Why would you pursue Bute at that time? Let's see

Brings a lot of money to the table? Yes
Holds a legit world title for a unification bout? Yes
One of the highest rated fighters in the division? Yes

A better question: Why did Kelly Pavlik make more sense as an opponent for Ward than Bute?

The answer is that it's a much easier fight

Um, Bute wasn't given the chance. They weren't throwin Canada in the mix when they had a good thing going with Brit/Denmark/USA based fights.

Pascal and Bute took a back seat.

Do you choose to ignore my point about Bernard because you're not enjoying him so much now and thinking of the liver shot that killed Oscar?

You've changed since you came back.At first I was only kidding but you've lost the plot tonight mate.

Let's just admit we(you) were wrong and start afresh. All will be forgiven.

I agree with almost everything you stated. But in all fairness, Bute's management tried for Abraham, and Pavlik and other names which all fell through and not due to Bute's team. There was something twisted that happened in the Hopkins talk which I cannot devulge but I can hint to the effect of Pascal.

He was left with weaker opposition which he took to stay busy. I agree that he stepped up late in general though...

But as you can see from his actions, he was not scared... he fought Froch away, wanted Ward which is the best at SMW, and now he's fighting Pascal.

Did he just grow balls over night.... I don't think so.

In all honesty, I don't hold it against Ward much, after all he did beat all the other top fighters in the division. However, I would have liked to see the Bute fight, but I don't think it will affect Ward's reputation much as Bute turned out to be less than what we thought

I agree. I just wish Bute fought Ward instead of Froch! But it is what it is.
