He saying its a warm up fight for vassell which will happen in may or june.

Firstly why on earth does he need a warm up fight to defend a british title?! Seems absolutely pointless and just delaying his career even more. I get groves having a warm up because he is on the edge of a world title but a warm up to defend a british just seems silly.

Secondly why wait for vassell and why even stick with the british title? We all now something will happen between now and june meaning the fight will get delayed and delayed. As good as the vassell fight is on paper, really its a no win for gavin. Its a risky fight for low return, plus at this stage he should be fighting for a european in april.

Hope gavin does the business but nothing makes sense here. Is it a lack of ambition from gavin or bad management?! I think its a bit of both

The Vassell fight has gone to purse bids and should be in June, so there's no harm in getting a fight in before.

If Vassel signs to defend his title end of May there can ask for a delay on the purse bids and the board will accept.

its another **** up from frankies management.

Maybe he's gonna draft in a "Never-stopped Argentinian" in the style of Fast Eddie Hearns

Is there actually going to be any decent fights on the 20th April?

Gavin is becoming embarrassing.. He's a fat lightweight who has no power to speak of at Welterweight, so that Argie Bargie would stay never stopped AND rugged.

    It's a **** poor card.

Bearing in mind there's been no pullouts yet does anyone recall a card as bad as this being announced?

Hearns' Rose-Alcine card on the same night is hardly any better, is it?

    It's much better I think.

    Rose/Alchine
    Cardle/Hughes
    Clarke/Askin

They're 3 good fights IMO, add to that Ochieng defending his English title and Lee Selby, Yafai, Salker.

    Clev/Krasniqi
    Chisora/Pala

    Walsh, Gavin and Buglioni.

    Cleverly-Krasniqi > Rose-Alcine
    Chisora-Pala > Askin-Clarke

    IMO.

Haven't seen Maxi Hughes, so I can't really comment on that match-up.

And on the London bill you have Liam Walsh defending his Commonwealth title and Frankie Gavin, Joe Murray, Frank Buglioni etc.

Basically, both are average cards (right now) for me. Hopefully they exceed my expectations :yep:thumbsup
