A really good fighter who could adapt, but that being said, he is usually greatly over rated or greatly under rated. Idk why but that seems to be the case, especially on this forum.

Hopkins was 43 at the time! He wasn't prime at all. He was still good but not great. And since then he has picked his fights very carefully and used his experience but he hasnt been in his prime for years.

3 1/2 years older, over 100 more professional rounds fought than Joe, and also fought in 3 other weight classes Joe NEVER fought in... Roy clearly had way more miles on his body.

RJJ was MW,SMW,LHW,HW champion! He has wins over Prime Hopkins and Prime James Toney. RJJ is leaps and bounds beyond Joe Calzaghe.

The toney that fought RJJ was weight drained and green, calzaghe would beat that version of toney ( and lose to a prime toney )

Hopkins had like 20 fights and 0 amateur background besides brawling in prison, not even close to prime sonny

    October, 1st 2008 Tommy's - strategy & commentary for Jones/Calzaghe

I really can't take this fight seriously and in particular Calzaghe. He has never fought a live fighter rather feasting on fringe contenders, mostly shot fighters and aged veterans Out of his 32 K.O. victories 30 of them are listed as T.K.O's over mostly European practicioners and I suspect favorable assistance and a 'Home Cooking Atmosphere'. I've never seen so many Technical knockout's on a boxer's stat sheet

That version of Toney was second only to Whitaker at the time.
