You said he cherry picked Ruiz. You're WRONG.

You also said he wouldn't have fought other heavies, especially ones that could crack. Wrong again.

I never said he fought other heavies did I?

I said that you were wrong in saying that he cherry picked Ruiz, and that he wouldn't have fought other heavies.

    You haven't got a clue!

I hate to break it to all of you, but John Ruiz would be no worse than 50/50 against that version of Bowe.

Also, Roy originally intended to fight at heavy in 2002.

He had talks with Evander Holyfield just prior to his 3rd fight with Ruiz late 2001. They had a verbal agreement to fight the following year, but Evander drew with Ruiz, and didn't retain the title. Afterwards, Roy was asked if he still wanted the fight. Roy declined and said he didn't think he'd get any credit for the fight at that point, and there was no title on the line. So he remained at 175 for another year and tried to make a Hopkins rematch. After his mandatory against Woods, he then asked Murad to try and secure the Ruiz fight. So he don't cherry pick Ruiz.

His dream fight at heavy was against Tyson, even though Tyson was way past his best.

After Ruiz, Lewis thought a match against Roy would be an easy nights work for huge money. But his struggle with Vitali made him retire. The Vitali fight was never intended to be his farewell fight. There was no talk of retiring before that fight. Because of the noises Lennox had made throughout 2003, Roy approached him towards the end of the year. He told Roy that he was definitely not going to fight again.

He walked away from a rematch with Vitali, and from a fight with Roy that would have made him millions. He knew it was time to let go. The whole "Roy cherry picked Ruiz and then came back down" theory is nonsense. Roy reluctantly came back for Tarver, because the Tyson and Lewis fights couldn't be made, and Tarver had baited him all year, including crashing the post Ruiz press conference.

There's a lot of ignorant people on here that assume that Roy wouldn't be able to beat hardly any heavies, due to the fact that Tarver and Johnson knocked him out, and obviously they hit harder than those two. But they don't allow for circumstances. Roy was clearly past his best when losing to those fighters.

Roy didn't have a great chin, but he kept it from harms way the majority of his career.

Who hits harder, Tarver or Ruiz?

    Johnson or Ruiz?

Most people who fought Roy at 168 and 175, could have knocked him out had they'd have had the opportunity. But the majority of them never had the opportunity.

IF is the biggest word in the dictionary.

IF Ruiz had've landed flush, then Roy would have been out cold.

The same applies to other heavies. Of course there's heavies that could and would have beaten Roy.

But there's also heavies that would have come unstuck by Roy's great footwork, and his incredible hand speed and reflexes.

IF Roy had've been caught at heavy, he'd have been asleep. But there's a few heavies who in my honest opinion, wouldn't have had the opportunity to land clean. (Just like Ruiz)

Blinding speed can off set a lot of things.

Roy's speed would have caused lots of problems, especially to the huge slower guys.

For example, Haye had Wlad frustrated with his movement.

Back on topic, obviously if Bowe had've caught Roy, the fight would have been over. But the Golota versions of Bowe were terrible. I don't think that it's beyond the realms of possibility that Roy could have beaten that version of Bowe on points.

Bowe lands solid right on Roy and knock him out for about a week, Roy hand picked John Ruiz and fought a good fight to win but this is not Tarver or Johnson this is Bowe so Roy would sleep longer if he woke

Holyfield is on record as saying he turned down 25m for a Jones fight. Tyson turned the fight down too.
