Or are they just saying this....all this "gonna knock him out in 2 rounds" stuff is a joke. Its widely known that Rigo is the real deal...he may not win, but hes not gonna get embarresed.
I think they are trying to make themselves believe they have an easy fight in front of them. He will see when he steps in there with a guy as fast and powerful as him. Oh and by the way, a better boxer.
^^ This Its one thing to say the guys a bum when he is a bum...but when the whole world knows the guy is a world class talent and your talking down..kinda makes them look silly if you ask me.
That fight wasnt even close. Yes Rigo got on his bike, but pot shotted the mother ****er and outboxed him the whole second half of the fight...I dont understand people who score fights for a guy just because he is moving forward.
I can safely say, Rigo is the best ring general Donaire has faced in his life. Can the same be said for Rigo? Rigo has had 475 amateur fights, only losing about 10...and these arent backyard weekend fights....These are world class amateurs, with wins over the likes of Abner Mares. Rigo has seen it all
Lol thats a bit much. Never been super impressed with him...felt like hes been pushed onto us to take over for manny. Guess well find out soon enough.
The first time you see Rigo fight, you could safely assume he went in the Ams.The posture, the way he approaches the game.He doesnt suck by any means. The one thing that's going against him is his chin.He has been hurt by fighters lesser in caliber than Donaire. Then factor in Donaire's humongous left.Rigo splattered in the mat is very likely. I don't think Rigo outboxes him either.Alot of people are criticizing Donaire's game against Narvaez,Mathebula and Vasquez. But they have no recall on how Donaire corrected his one punch approach in the Nishioka fight. They are singling out his worst performances, which are dominant wins by the way.
Amateur boxing is **** compared to professional boxing. Rigo is definitely skilled, but his chin wasn't made for pro boxing. Rigo is going to get obliterated.
No they're just confident in Donaire's size and power advantage and for the fact Rigo can get lackadaisical in the ring. What will surprise them is that Rigo will be the sharpest opponent they ever faced and will cause problems if Rigo doesn't fold.
Rigo certainly doesn't suck, but as others have indicated, he has some pretty obvious flaws in his game that have been shown against far lesser competition than Donaire. The biggest one being that his chin looks pretty weak, he hasn't been hit very often in his fights, but when he has been hit he's been hurt. Which bodes very ill against Donaire. Two, he's an excellent counterpuncher, but is very defensive with his fighting style, particularly at the beginning of fights. Donaire generally brings a good workrate to the table and if he knows not much is going to be coming back his way early, there's not much reason for him not to try and jump on Rigo early. Rigo's other opposition was too outclassed to take advantage of this, but Donaire doesn't have that issue.
I don't think they believe Rigondeaux sucks, per se. But I do believe they think his punch resistance sucks.
