Which fighter from past 2 decades 140-147would've given Floyd his toughest fight?

    Julio Cesar CHavez!

Persistent inside warfare. At 140 lbs, Mayweather could not rest on the ropes to try to evade shots. Chavez was to good and to strong and had too good a chin at 140 lbs for that to work against him.

I'd pick Chavez to outhustle and win on points with activity in a close fight.

Paul Williams with his size may have represented problems and Margarito with his workrate and chin may have also forced Mayweather to work overtime.

Chavez though is the fighters I'd pick prime for prime at 140 lbs!

Hard to pick. Margarito maybe. Because he was willing to get hit to land his punches.

I would have said Oscar, but something tells me Floyd might be able to edge him even when Oscar was prime. It would have been a close fight.

Margarito when he fought Cotto the first time would really be a problem for Floyd (with Plaster of Paris of course)..
that should've been the end of the nick "Pretty Boy"...

Doubtful. Cotto has always had a knack for getting hit in fights, even when he was prime/undefeated. He just always gave more than he took.

Floyd has never consistently taken damage in a fight throughout his entire career. Margarito had an incredible chin and a good work rate, but he was slow and plodding. He would've been too slow to land on Floyd and Floyd's conditioning is second to none. Cotto faded in the 2nd half of the fight (as he typically does) while Floyd has essentially never done that. Floyd wins a very boring lop sided decision even if Marg's was packing wraps.

There's quite a few fighters I'd favour to beat him. Chavez and Trinidad would both chase him out the ring and probably beat him the worst.

    Others that beat him:

    DLH
    Quartey
    Whitaker

    50/50's :

    McGirt
    Forrest
    Tszyu
    Mosley

Floyd would beat the breaks off a sloppy fighter like Williams.
