Foreman (from the70's) against Lewis and Louis. Does he stand a chance?

I would give Louis a better chance then Lewis. As previously noted, if Joe can establish his left jab, right cross, and left hook early, Foreman is in for a long night. I believe Foreman would try to end it early and get sloppy, like Baer did, and leave himself open for Louis' counters. If this is the case, and Foreman gets hurt the way Lyle had him hurt, Foreman gets KOd. As for Lennox, he had a tendency to get cautious. As demonstrated in the 1st Holyfield fight and the Tyson fight. Backing up, grabbing, and not employing aggression is the last thing one wants to do against Foreman. I would give George a better chance against Lewis then Louis.

 

Foreman would lose to Louis like Max Baer lost.Louis punches are shorter,faster,more explosive and he had powerful combinations.In my opininon Foreman would had easy night with Lewis and knockout in early round.Lewis can't run form him,Foreman catching opponent was very good,Lewis can counter but Foreman chin was good.Foreman would do pressure,moving forward and hitting strong and I think Lewis could not survive that.

 

I don't think Foreman would lose to Louis like Baer did. Foreman brought A LOT more to the table than Max ever did.

Baer had virtually no jab, virtually no left hook, uppercuts, or sense of defense. Foreman had a great jab, very powerful hooks, great uppercuts, and he had a basic sense of defense.

Foreman would be outjabbing Louis and litterally throwing him into range. I'd favor Louis if his chin was better, but Foreman would be tagging him and dropping him often.

 

Have to agree with that analysis there Bill.
I've always thought if both guys caught each other with their sunday best then Foreman is going to do the greater damage, especially in the early rounds.

 

atsch Actually, that's exactly what you want to do unless you want to get into a shootout from the beginning, which wasn't Lewis' style. Lewis is 6'5, 245 lbs, he can beat up Foreman off the back foot.

 

I'd favor Louis, I wouldn't favor Lennox. But both are close calls.

 

I can't pick Lennox Lewis over prime Foreman. I think George takes it inside 5.

I look at the Michael Grant,Briggs,Rahman,McCall fights and I see Prime Foreman taking Lennox out.

 

Well take into account that Lewis needed 8 full rounds to beat the corpse of Mike Tyson. Needed 2 fights to get one win over old Holyfield. Was tagged and rocked by Shannon Briggs as well as Michael Grant.

Joe Louis and Foreman would be a good fight. Can Louis land the combos and keep Foreman at bay? Can Louis take the shots like Ali did?

Not sure. But I'm positive that Foreman kills Lennox easily.

 

I think you're selling Lewis short. He was blatantly robbed in the first Holyfield fight, got into a give and take war with a big punching, dangerous Shannon Briggs and knocked him out, blew away Michael Grant, Andrew Golota, and Frans Botha in decisive fashion (not an easy thing to do) and he also showed plenty of chin and guts in the Mercer fight.

Lewis, head to head, is a great, great fighter. At 6'5, 235-240 at his best with loads of firepower, great sense of distance control, and all around a well rounded fighter.
