Marquez has great lateral movement as pointed out by poster bogotazo, and Floyd infrequently uses dramatic lateral movement. With this in mind about their footwork, why was Marquez unable to get the upper hand in footwork when he fought Floyd? Floyd went as far as completely throwing Marquez off balance as he bent at the waist to make Marquez miss
Marquez didn't use any defensive lateral movement. If you make one chase the other, the one on the back-foot is likely to act as the superior ring general. Given Floyd's height and reach, and Marquez's temperament, it was unlikely that Marquez was just gonna hold out and try to bait Floyd constantly coming forward. Mayweather caught him by stepping into his shots towards the end of the fight, but didn't sustain that kind of attack. Any time Marquez did close the distance, his shots were either blocked, or Floyd shoved him out of the clinch to restart at arm's length. H2H, one of their plans to circle is going to be neutralized, and given the style and size dynamics, it's usually going to be Marquez who ends up being forced forward. Against other opponents, Marquez's style favors movement, while Floyd is usually quite comfortable in his guard and measuring shots while moving in a straight line, circling out to restart when necessary.
Because jmm was fat and sluggish due to gaining weight by simply eating more. Since then he has added a weights programme , reduced his fat intake and is now a solid welter. simples.
Theres nothing JMM does better than Floyd other than getting hit. Do these type of threads where the fighters are atleast comparable. End thread.
He's a better pressure fighter He's better at cutting the ring off He's actually better at not having the ring cut off on himself He may well be a harder puncher It's arguable that he's a better body puncher.
He was the same weight against Floyd that he was when he fought at lightweight. The "added weight" excuse is bull****, because he's been walking around at that weight for years. Floyd is not only much more talented, but the styles amplify the talent gap.
Yes there is. He takes fights where he's not guaranteed to win. He also sent Manny to sleep - something Floyd wouldnt dream of attempting
Please tell me has he looked that out of shape in any other fight?I dont think so , so its not bull****, its plain to see.Bloated due to added weight over a short period of time made him slow and sluggish.Didnt affect the result , but did affect the performance.
Against competition with no D. If you dont exchange with JMM he's non-relevant. He's a half ass fighter as are alot of guys in boxing. And everrything you mentioned didnt do **** for JMM when he fought Floyd so how can these attributes are better. If Floyd hail marry sat on his punches while getting caught like JMM he would magically have power also. Floyd's style is no style with no real weaknesses other than an overhand right that mostly grazes the top of his head. Stop the madness. JMM is an over glorified "skill" fighter that is mostly default because guys have no defense or awareness of punches. This is why I say Broner easily beats JMM even in his current young and green state. So once again, theres boxing and then theres those that play chin. JMM falls in the chin category.
The topic of this thread is lateral movement, and guess what... Marquez >>> Mayweather in terms of lateral movement.
Because he finally fought roids with roids and didnt leave it into judges hands which Im not mad at but any suggestion where Floyd is a coward if thats what youre implying youre a fool and just another dumb ass hater. I call no boxer a coward.
Interesting stuff, I think this is a very good point. There styles do not 'gel' so to speak and like you say one of them had to concede the defensive position.
That was non-existent when they fought eachother. One of Floyd's easiest fights. Not understanding these little victories that mean nothing just because Floyd is hated. Floyd beats everyone on JMM resume. JMM doesn't beat everyone on Floyds. Theyre not comparable other than the fact theyre both human and both are participants in boxing. But as far as attributes and styles, one guy plays chin, the other guy is the best example of hit and not get hit. Two vast different realms of, skill, knowledge and understanding of their craft and it showed big time when they got in the ring together. Lie to yourself all you want but Floyd is on a different plain of existence in terms of boxing. His shittiest attribute >>>>>>>>>JMM best.
