Marquez lateral movement is far from great and his feet were never fast. He's good at making subtle shifts and half-steps to create punching opportunities, one of the better fighters of recent years at that but he's far from a great overall mover. Most important thing regarding footwork against Floyd is he's not the best at integrating his countering with good footwork on the front foot.Much better edging backwards or laterally.even Crhis John had him overextending and struggling to get punches off all the time, by using his own quicker lateral movement and forcing marquez to lead. A mobile cutie is not a good style for Marquez.he's much better when fighters come to him.
Of course he likes to fight off the ropes, there's no secret he's very adept there. He's the best right now, most likely. But he's also taken the most hits and lost rounds while on the ropes, and in fights it hasn't been convenient to go there, he still did so. You guys should accept Floyd isn't the best at everything there ever was to do in boxing. GOW7 is speaking complete nonsense. Aside from Hopkins he's probably the best defensive ring general today. Who else controls the center as frequently? It's not about speed, it's about craft. Those small steps spin him all the way around, he doesn't need to hop around his opponent because he can turn on a dime.
Please, Manny is a chump. 3/4 of his fans don't even post here anymore, and keep in mind this was after the Bradley fight. And about Floyd on the ropes stuff. You're overhyping lateral movement to much. Rather be on the ropes than on my ass like JMM.
Sorry buddy but hes lost less rounds in the past decade than probably JMM last 2 fights. Over exaggeration but true. Just stop it. Lateral movement is **** anyways. JMM is a way bigger sitting duck on the ropes and standing in the middle of the ring than Floyd ever will be.
No chance. JMM's KO on manny had nothing, 0, zip, nadda, to do with power. manny exposed himself for what he is, a clueless brawler who knows nothing of technique, and dove head first into a loaded right hand. JMM has never had a ton of power in his punches throughout his career. His stoppages/KO's typically come from accumulations, like Floyd. Floyd has consistently fought and beaten better opposition, with some coming by way of KO. Floyd's power > JMM's power
It's tough to compare Floyd and BHop's defensive styles because they are quite different. Floyd's style is more effective in winning fights though. BHop's style seems to be more about confusing opponents, speeding rounds up (by moving out of range and too close range), and tying opponents up. BHop also has the tendency to take flush shots sometimes, whereas that rarely happens to Floyd. How BHop takes flush shots at 46, 47, 48? is... lolwut
Both are counter punchers. Floyd made the smaller, slower man lead and immediately Floyd got into his comfort zone, making Jmm fight Floyd's fight. Why pretty much 2 counterpunchers fighting makes boring fights nobody wants to lead. Jmm showed great lateral work in the 3rd Pacman fight, but at least alil cred has to be given to Floyd for making Jmm lead and taking full advantage of his speed and size with keepung Jmm at the end of his jab. Jmm would have more success taking points out of Erik Morales book by using more feints and jabbing Floyd's body more. He also has faster feet now to position himself better. He was too slow that night vs Floyd. He has a chance he was laying some combos on Floyd the last rounds, but alil too late.
I think you're a good poster man, but you're very wrong here. Juan has always had power in single shots, especially at lower weights. You should look up a thread I made recently with a highlight video of his career, specifically from earlier on. The amount of guys he took out with one shot, or just a 1-2 combo is staggering. Plenty early on in fights too. Of course, the power diminished slightly as he came up the weights, that's natural, but I think pound for pound, JMM is a more powerful fighter. Of course, Floyd doesn't often really plant his feet and look for heavy power shots.
Hold up.. Did GOW7 just say Floyd is a better combination puncher than Marquez.? Marquez.. who is universally known as the best combination puncher in the modern era, if not one of the best ever? There's fanboyism and then there's this.. nuts.
