Sorry if I'm repeating a thread that's already been made, I don't read this section of the forum enough to know, but who would you take in a fight between these two at their best? Please give me your reasons for your picks too. Thanks.
I'll wait to **** a brick when I see the first person who uses one of Foreman's massive amounts of quotes that are overly-praising of fighters in the line about how Liston was the only one that ever pushed him back in the ring to support Liston's position. Then I will **** a brick and start talking about Liston flopping around like a fish.
Everyone points to that when this comes up but George also said he was scared of Norton and Frazier and we know what happened there. Liston might well fare better, but then George was a freak who at his best had a beastly jab of his own. It'll be enough to set up his swings. Liston tattoos George as long as he's there but I see George, at his very best just charging through Sonny, regardless of any sparring tales. This is more a gut thing. Really, Liston should match up well with George but I just feel the force that Liston was, well, I find George the scarier guy. Liston blasted Liston inside a round twice. Foreman smashed Joe Frazier in two rounds. What d'ya like? I like George
Liston could keep the fight at long range and outbox Foreman until he's ready to go. But he probably wouldn't. Foreman by KO.
Neither of these things are good for you, Boxed, and you know it. You need to start taking better care of yourself - now. You can't just go out and partake in these reckless activities that defined the days of your youth anymore. You've got...you've got too many people who just love the heck out of ya, Boxed! Awwwwwahhhaawwwah! This content is protected This content is protected
Thanks for all the responses (and GIFs) :good I don't proclaim to be knowledgeable at all on the history of the sport but I've started reading up and watching programmes on these classic Heavyweights and this match up to me would've been fantastic to watch. For what it's worth, I think I'd favour Foreman and in a battle of these big punchers, you couldn't see it lasting 12 rounds. But I really like Liston too so can see why people would favour him.
both were great punchers but it maybe that liston was the more relaxed of the two and would do better later but foreman was tougher mentally as he never quit. i would make a small wager on foreman knowing he may well run out of gas and into listons fists
