I was arguing on another forum which of these guys was better defensively. Who was better and why, in your opinion?

#Dempsey was occasionally conscious of defense in between barn storming opponents with his chin in the air. While Johnson was always conscious of hitting while not being hit.

    Conclusive ,and irrevocable.:good
Johnsons' secret weapon gives him an incalculable advantage.

No further discussion is necessary, or desirable on this subject.

Is there really any sort of argument to be had here? Who on Earth would rate Dempsey's defence better than Johnson's?!

    + distant thoughts.

Well there is a poster that goes by CarlosG815 who will vehemently disagree and tell you Johnson did was grapple, clinch and lean back. I know who was better defensively, I just wanted other opinions.

While it is debatable who was greater, and who was better head to head, it is surely a no brainer that Johnson was better defensivley.

it's kind of the same as asking who had the better offense: dempsey or johnson? johnson is light years ahead imo

I wouldn't exactly call what Johnson did 'Defense' he clinched and held more than Ruiz did. Sorry but that isn't Defense.
