Quite a heavy sentence for what he did, sexual battery of a call girl, in soft touch Britain he'd be long released. Regards his boxing prowess, who knows, but I doubt he had the mentality to last.

I could have sworn I clicked on ESB, but I must have turned right and got to the Daily Mail comments section by mistake.

Massively overrated. Despite being such a "beast" he had a ko percentage lower than that of Shannon Briggs.

He only went 12 rounds once and that was against Tua, you must be just looking at his stats and not watching his fights to say that.

Ike got into a lot of trouble when almost killed his ex girlfriend's 15 year old soon.

"A couple of months after the Tua fight, distraught over a perceived snub in the WBC rankings, Ibeabuchi abducted the 15-year-old son of his former girlfriend and slammed his car into a concrete pillar on Interstate 35 north of Austin, Texas. According to the criminal complaint, the boy suffered "numerous injuries" from the accident "and will never walk normally again." Ibeabuchi was charged with kidnapping and attempted murder, but the courts concluded he was trying to commit suicide and he was sentenced to 120 days after pleading guilty to false imprisonment. He also paid a $500,000 civil settlement."

The word at that time was that the boy not only sustained injuries from the wreck but from Ike roughing him up by throwing him around the inside of the cab of the truck.

He should have been locked up then.

Ike is a good case of "what could have been", but in all honesty he is right where he belongs..............in the pen.

Ike fought the wrong fight against Tua and still beat him at his own game. I think that fight might have came a little too early for him, if he had a little more experience and nous about his boxing (using his physical advantages more), he should have scored a wide UD against Tua. He would not been tagged by those bombs as much and make actually be quite sane today.

He definately would have picked up a World Title and could have actually raised the profile of the heavyweight division.

Ike and Bowe , 2 HW monsters that hadn't the chance to fight with Tyson and Lennox. Bowe fought Lennox at ams, I know.

Yes because Ikes career was as long as Briggs and they had the same number of fights.

    :deal

What I came to post. The entire myth/legend of Ibeabuchi sits on his fight against Tua. Well, look what happened to Tua . . . he never made a world champ. Now, that doesn't mean Ike wouldn't have . . . but the hype is insane. The hype is only so because he went to prison.

What happened to Tua, and his lack of a World title, was his weight gain, running into Lewis, and lack of desire later in his career that hampred him more than anything. And in regards to Ike, it's fair to assume HAD he been able to continue to fight, he'd have continued to improve his craft. As it stands, his two wins in 18 fights is better than most HW's today.

Very few HW's have the ability to throw 1000 punches in a fight and not show signs of fatigue. For a strong fighter like Ike, that's a great attribute to possess (at the time).

I think Ike would have been a highly successful HW had he not been so mental.

Cute post there homeboy. But Wlad schooled Byrd BOTH times he fought him. It wasn't even close. The same Byrd that completely outclassed Tua, the guy Ike went life and death with. Ike wasn't schooling Byrd in any way before he caught him.

How many times did Ol' Ike fight somebody with Wlads skill, height, and reach with as much if not more power than Tua (the guy who made him see demons after their fight)?? Right :good

As for Vitali, he would have outboxed Ibeabuchi also. Not saying it wouldn't have been a fight! But both Klitschkos are better boxers than Ike was.

Ike was an absolute beast. Unfortunately like so many fighters his was unstable mentally. Will never forget his battle with a prime undefeated David Tua.
