Floyd in his Prime had too much Speed and power...and fight Mistake free...everyone agreed that Floyd at 140 was unbeatable so that would've been his prime...he was young with Great Defense...

I'd like to know what was the barometer used for Floyd's greatness at 140.

Was it his steller performance against Bruseles,Demarcas Chop Chop Corley or the previous pinching bag in Arturo Gatti ? Its easy to look unbeatable against journey men ! Floyd would have never stepped in the ring with a prime Forrest or a prime Delahoya , His actions already proved that !

The guy who has the best shot at him since 93 is the Viper. . . I would say it is 50-50. others who would give him fits in descending order:
1) Oscar/SSM (if they fought at 135-140 I would give SSM a better shot than Oscar)
2) Vernon
3) Sweet P . . . 93 version would lose but it would be interesting . . . earlier versions would be 50-50 atleast.
4) Winky (I know he is 154 but if he could get down to 147 it would be very close . . .I would make winky the strong fav)

at 140 the only possible fighter who stood a chance is SSM, I think he beats zu, ricky and cotto going away.

Mayweather plays a different brand of defense to Whitaker.

Whitaker is more of a bend, contort, and run type of defense, where Mayweather likes to lean back and stick his elbows and arms out to defend with them.
If you're not running, the body is still there to hit, and thats where JC Superstar's opportunity to shine vs Mayweather.

Because the sad thing is for Floyd fans that they dont want to hear at all that all those names are better than any name or version Floyd has beat at those weights.

why? to tall, to well rounded, fights his fight, is very patient and is physicly much more bigger than lil floyd.

 

I think it depends on the fighter, not the style. Pernell Whitaker would have a very good chance of winning against Mayweather due to his boxing ability. (Even Judah was mainly countering and outboxing a prime Mayweather for the first four rounds of their fight.)

I do agree that intelligent pressure fighting is often a good way to trouble boxer types, though. Castillo really gave Mayweather a close fight. I don't think Hatton did as well as some think, though -- he was able to quickly close the distance against Mayweather and wrestle with him inside and on the ropes, but he didn't land many effective punches. Hatton's defence let him down, as Mayweather was able to catch him again and again as he came in, which was evident as early as the first round. To pressure Mayweather you need the defensive skills to avoid getting hit with his pot shots as you charge in...a good example would be Duran and his head movement.
