Who exactly did Foreman ever corner that was anywhere near as good as Jones?

 

Foreman telegraphed so many of his power punches that Jones might well evade them until Foreman starts to gas.

 

Jones dances to decision and along the way knocks Foreman down a few times.

 

Umm... Muhummad Ali for one.

Ali was tough enough to withstand what George dished out as he was a ATG legit heavyweight, whereas Jones was a blown up 168 pounder who had one fight at heavyweight. It's no contest.

I love Roy but match ups like these are unfair on him and people giving him a shot just add gist to the mill for Jones' detractors.

 

Yep.Apart from Mayweather,I think Jones is the best boxer Ive ever seen.Pound for pound,Jones every time.In the ring,absolutely no contest IMO.

 

Roy could avoid some punches for a round and maybe 2, but I doubt it. Foreman by knockout in one or two. George landing anywhere would hurt Roy.

Roy could stick and move, avoid the worst of the mega-ton blast pattern and take that ol' meteor (which, let's face it, telegraphs an extremely predictable attack) into deep waters in the late rounds.

 

dear lord this wouldn't even be close. Foreman ****ing knocks him unconscious and it's not up for debate.

 

uh, i liked sanders a lot but he was hardly in his best shape in the ring. he spent more time on the golf course than in the gym. sanders had no late round KOs in his career because of this. if he didn't get guys out early, he'd have trouble. if he doesn't get jones out within the first four rounds, i think he loses a decision here.

 

Foreman destroys Jones. It would literally be a massacre, its a complete mismatch & an insult to Foreman at his best to suggest anything else.

 

No he doesn`t, he has no shot at all vs a prime Foreman.

The Foreman that fought Young was on the verge of a 10 year long retirement because he was so mentally exhausted with the pressure of boxing, I`d still take that Foreman over Jones any day but I wouldn`t class that version of Foreman as the best version of the 70s Foreman, it was the worst version if anything.

If I was asked how a fighter does vs lets say prime Tyson, I wouldn`t rabble on about the version that fought Douglas, even though that fight technically happened in Tyson`s prime years, I would be looking at the Spinks version or thereabouts.

So with all this in mind, the answer to the thread question is 100%`George Foreman` and no other answer is acceptable.

 

Jones is unconscious by the fourth round at most.
