Glass jaw, no inside fighting skills, cannot adapt midway through a fight, can't fight going backwards etc. are some of the most famous criticsms Khan get's from all quarters.

Most Brit fans don't acknowledge Khan as being British cos he fights in Amercia (this was one of the responses I got in the Brit forum lol). Those above flaws were never rectified during his 3 year reign as champ and still he managed to win. It's true Khan has more American fight fans than Brit one's... don't know why or what are Brit fans bitter about? Sometimes think Khan should have fought for ****stan instead of UK in Olympics.

You want him to fight top 10... that's what he was doing when he was champ. Why not criticise Ricky Burns or Kell Brook... compare their resume to Khan's. With all the limitations Khan hasn't done bad at all.

You see, that's what some of them state. But I know it's jealousy. I mean, these guys have been hating him the moment he started to get attention in the lead-up to the 2004 Olympics. He was just a 17 year old then, excited to be competing in a massive competition. There was nothing in his attitude to dislike. So I thought it was well harsh when they were disappointed in seeing him progress in each round. Him losing to Kindelan was a massive relief for them , but by then the damage was done, and Amir's Olympic campaign was already considered a success.

As for the religious thing, yeah, that's played a role for some of them - and, in a way, rightfully so I guess. Because for a guy who's benefitting from this 'Muslim rolemodel' tag he's been wearing (whether he's asked for it or not), they think he should be conducting himself better. Appearing arrogant, fooling around with girls and cheating on his fiance, drinking, partying, etc, aren't Muslim-like traits. If he wants to do them, fine, carry on. But don't then continue pretending to be this 'Muslim rolemodel' and happily rake in the respect/admiration that comes from the naive section of his Pak!stani/Muslims fanbase.

I don't remember Prince Naseem being hated by Brits and he has a similar background to Amir.

I also don't believe that Amir is hated. If you're being discussed on a message board, you are most likely being hated on. That doesn't make the opinion of a few bored people universal.

This thread was about a bull**** tournament that is really no tournament at all. It's just an attempt by GB to provide the path of least resistance for its most popular fighter to finally claim supremacy in a division before moving up.

And please keep in mind that this whole "tournament" concept did not exist until long after the initial Judah/Garcia fight broke down. They're really just making this **** up as they go along.

Not a very good comparison. Naseem was operating in an era that didn't have both a 9/11 and 7/7 that the western world was recovering from.

I don't think any of that comes into play here. If Naseem were around today, he'd receive a similar level of "hate" from message board posters for being dropped repeatedly by Kevin Kelly and schooled by Barerra.

They'd want him to prove himself.

Hated by an entire nation for what he looks like, though?

    Nah.

You don't live in the UK, do you?

And no one is saying an "entire nation". Just a notable section. More notable than any other race/culture would get. And some of that is even noticeable on this message board which is moderated. There are good handful of posters on this site that dislike him partially because of his race.

No, I live in the U.S., where black athletes get hate for what they look like all the time. Where people like Mayweather have to turn themselves into asses just to appeal to one segment of people for acceptance.

If, indeed, this is what Amir is going through, it does not make him special. Anyone who is not white could make a similar complaint and no one would care.

Racist assholes are everywhere. I would not call them "notable", though.

If it garners hate far more than any other race would, then yes, it is notable, and it does make him a special case. For example, when UK people **** on Haye, none of them will bring his race into it. But the same can't be said for Khan. Let's take the following two examples:

    Haye-Klitschko video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elkj-nroI40

    Khan-Prescott video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shUqYIkMXu0

For Khan, I've scrolled down only three pages, and this is what I've found:

    1. Thats what happens when real muslim is in the ring
    2. lol stupid p@ki
    3. To all amir khant supporters (which aint many) go **** yourselves...we can say what we like in this country we got free speach maybe the amir khant lobbyists dont get it, khant is a product of the labour goverment part of rip off britain we must make a stand againts all this pig **** we're being fed
    4. YOU'RE NOT ENGLISH YOU'RE NOT ENGLISH YOU'RE NOT ENGLISH AN YMORE! YOOOOUUUU'RRRRRRRRRE NOT ENGLISH ANY-MORE!'
    5. Haha..p@kis cant hack it
For Haye, I'm on my 10th page and haven't found anything in regards to his race. Plenty of toe comments and him being a loud-mouth, but nothing about him being black or whatever. And bear in mind, his video is exposed to the Eastern European audience, too. **** knows how much more I'd find for Khan if I went to 10 pages with him, too.

Why would I argue that it doesn't exist? It's not really relevant in this thread; at least not pertinent to the original topic.

Is Amir Khan's biggest concern his race and ethnicity, or the left hook of Danny Garcia?

He seems to be doing quite well financially and in terms of popularity, being the ******* of a nation and all... brutal KO losses notwithstanding.

Tbh it was the left hook that lead to a kd each time. I hope Julio presses the action and brings it. If he fails this then game over.

You can find the same racist drivel on ESPN and youtube comments whenever the Williams sisters lose (or win), or when Tiger Woods has a bad Sunday.

    No one cares.

But you did, though. You claimed Khan "isn't hated" and insinuated that, if he is, it can't be because of his race because Naseem Hamed didn't suffer the same abuse. You said you "don't think any of that comes into play here", and that he doesn't receive abuse that's different to any other race.

That's why I then came up with evidence to clearly prove otherwise.

And the reason why this issue has come up is because, in an anti-Khan thread, someone has came in hating on him because of his race. Comments then ensued on why Khan garners such hate.

Of course people care. What a stupid thing to say. You think the Black followers of that sport don't care when they have to put up with that sort of stuff? Having the attitude of "Oh, it happens, deal with it, move on" is shitty. You can have that outlook yourself, but don't expect others to.
