calzaghe vs lacy: My first super fight, what was yours?

Hagler- Hearns

 

On TV I remember watching Hagler v Hearns with my old man.

Live, the first fight I attended was Lewis v McCall. The Atomic bull running past me with the green belt around his waist, followed by a screaming, hollering (and gigantic) Don King was utterly surreal.

Best atmosphere I've experienced live: Cotto v Mosley, MSG

Best moment I've experienced live: Round 12, Froch v Taylor

 

I just remember watching De La Hoya on Sky in the early 2000's when I was still at school.

 

I was ringside For Joe v Lacy. I bet £100 on Joe. Buncey, I asked him as we walked past me, predicted a Joe win as did Hatton and Khan. Worth shelling out for.

Felt gutted for the guy sat behind Peter Crouch.

 

For me it was probably Ali-Foreman. I like your name by the way!

 

I have a faint memory of Ali/SpinksII, but the first superfight I really remember was Holmes/Ali.

 

There's two that count for me really.

The very first boxing fight I ever watched and was ever interested in was Hatton vs Tyszu. I remember the Sky ads being on constantly and I watched in my cousin's who I was staying with on the night.

After that I went away from boxing again. The next fight I was interested in was the fight that well and truly made me a fan of the sport. It was Hatton vs Mayweather. I didn't know an awful lot about Mayweather back then but because I knew Hatton and had seen him win a big fight before and was undefeated I assumed he was going to definitely beat Mayweather too. How much I had to learn, was guttered and in shock when he lost. Still, like I said the fight and the epic build up had me completely hooked.

I've been a massive boxing fan ever since.

 

I always used to watch boxing as a kid, whole family were into it and I remember watching some fights on tv, Lewis getting sparked by Rahman is the one I mainly remember.

As I got older it was Hatton that really got me into boxing. The Mayweather story PaulieMC said about is exactly the same for me.

 

And the fact it was not shown in the UK!

 

Froch v Bute. Best night i've had at a fight.Been going to shows for a few years but that was the first BIG one.

 

Minter V Hagler for me is my earliest recollection

 

Hatton vs Mayweather encouraged me to take up the sport and my obsession just went from there!

 

Masterful performance from Whitaker. Probably his greatest.
Awful decision.

Calzaghe vs Lacy was an important fight. It reinvigorated British boxing.
