It was quite interesting the other day when Ward came out with this Mayweather catchweight nonsense at 160. The Son of God has a love of staying in California and he only mentioned the notion of fighting Mayweather because he knows it will never happen, as that fight would have to take place in Vegas.

Ward fights almost exclusively in California unless he is forced outside of that state by a contractual obligation i.e. Super Six final. Ward's first fight back after the Super Six final was against a weight drained Dawson back in Oakland, and his second fight was due to be against Pavlik in Oakland again. He had no interest in making a big fight with Bute that the networks were nagging for after the Super Six as he knew he wouldn't be able to keep the fight in California. It would have had to be a Montreal, Vegas or New York fight.

You'd think Ward would be Vegas/New York-ready by now but he has yet to fight under the relatively stricter controls of the New York State Athletic Commission or Nevada State Athletic Commission, under which Mayweather earns his big bucks in Vegas and pushes for Olympic style testing.

Going back to the Ward-Froch fight in Atlantic City, it was rather incredible that cut Ward got from the inside of a headguard to delay the fight wasn't it?!!? Incidentally, other than 2 fights in the Caribbean, that was his first fight outside of California for 5 and a half yrs. And the cut from the inside of that headguard was so serious it delayed the Froch fight until the week before Christmas. Must've been an act of God!
