somebody just gave a pair of almost-new, good quality 8oz gloves - no question of using those for sparring, of course maybe too light for the bag... maybe ackward for the speedball... been thinking, what would you use them for?
I would use them for the bag. Hell the old-timers used smaller gloves than that for the bag. Helps condition your hands, and you can get proper knuckle placement when you punch.
I know its a different sport, but in the Thailand thats exactly right. We very often use laced 6oz or bag mitts on the pads and bag, feels tighter faster and more accurate. I prefer 8oz cos of the slightly better wrist protection (My bodies getting older). It works for us MT guys cos we don't punch the whole time as boxers do, we mix it up on the bag so the hands don't get as much wear and tear.
thanks for the advice, I think I'll try to do some mitt and bag work with them and see how it feels like
