Here is a tally of the Top 25 heavyweights. Hopefully its a better ranking than Boxrec or any of the orgs. This ranking is based on PERFORMANCE and RESULTS and NOT ON H2H. Even if a boxer looks like a world-beater and looks like an h2h Top 10, they don't get ranked unless they get a meaningful win. Please let me know what you think! 1. Wladimir Klitschko 2. Vitali Klitschko 3. Alexander Povetkin 4. David Haye 5. Kubrat Pulev 6. Tony Thompson 7. Eddie Chambers 8. Tomasz Adamek 9. Tyson Fury 10. Steve Cunningham 11. Robert Helenius 12. Chris Arreola 13. Malik Scott 14. Odlanier Solis 15. Johnathan Banks 16. Chisora 17. Chagaev 18. Glazkov 19. Boystov 20. Wach 21. Lawrence 22. Stiverne 23. Dimitrenko 24. Pianeta 25. Price Honorable mention: Mansour, Charr, Gomez, Jennings, Mitchell, Ortiz.
Yeah there is always alot of disagreement about where to rank Chisora. My reasoning for having him at #16 is that if you look at his performances in his last 4 fights, then it's hard to imagine any of the fighters ranked 17-25 being favored to beat him. All of the fighters with legit wins over Chisora are legit Top 10. Based on his performance in the ring, Chisora deserves to be ranked.
Charr's only decent W is a UD vrs Bydenko, where he wasn't very impressive. He's been the beneficiary of shady hometown refs. Go to 9:09 in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziofUmZp6AI He also should have lost to Zach Page. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFHMolDui5o Haye at #4 is not controversial imho. Helenius hasn't been the same since his injury but Sherman Williams and Michael Sprott are decent wins and he hasn't gotten enough credit for them. He was on a good run prior to Chisora and got hyped up and now everyone is dismissing him....a bit prematurely imho.
Solis could have dificulties with the the XXL heavyweights, and perhaps the speed of Haye, and even then he can defeat most of them, howeever he would defeat easily any heavyweight around his size, therefore to put the likes as 3. Alexander Povetkin 5. Kubrat Pulev 7. Eddie Chambers 8. Tomasz Adamek 10. Steve Cunningham 11. Robert Helenius 12. Chris Arreola 13. Malik Scott ... before of him is simply a travesty
Not much there to be honest. It just looks like more of the same. Why hasnt Klitschko vs Povetkin happened again?
I can agree that a prime Solis is probably the favorite vrs. all those guys, but there's an argumnent to be made that Solis has slowed down and isn't going to get back in shape. He got tagged alot by Larsen.
Seems that it will happen right this summer, wlad simply asked the wba the permission to insert a voluntary defense right before the Povetkin match. But it's sure it will happen, and i cant wait.
Charr should be in it (yes you cana rgue about it but I belive he is a top 25 HW) and Helenius should be ranked lower he looked bad lately and Chagaev should maybe be a little higher but he hasn#t fought anyone good lately
Chambers above Thompson, although Chambers is a CW now, isn't he? Helenius below Arreola, Scott, and arguably below Solis. Fury above Adamek.
