Another pearl of wisdom and relevance from the Irishninny.atsch Muhammad Abdulaev also had a Gold medal and a can't miss pro style but did not pan out! That would have been a better example. However still meaningless.
you dont really believe this do you? they said he would go pro after the last olympics too...... he'll be doing another olympics now that the head gears off and the 10 point must system is in effect. He'll be 28-29 before he's a pro. I'll do an avatar bet with you that he doesn't turn pro within the year
Bagzhit Sattakanov won gold in 2000 but perished in a car wreck later that year. This is unequivocal proof that Lomachenko will do nothing as a pro...
guys be foreal. Lomachenko is a great amateur, but don't see he's this and that as a pro until he actually turns pro and proves it at the top level. Too many top amateurs failed in the pro games and too many unsuccessful amateurs have succeeded in the pros to make any certain conclusion about the guy. It's possible, he may become the best fighter in the world, but there's no way you can call him that right now
how about Serafim Todorov. Win over Mayweather in the AMs, lost a split decision in his second pro fight to none other than Toni Naskovski in Macedonia. Successful olympic boxers that go on to be great pro boxers are the ones who win in the amateurs due to outsized talent and athletic ability -- sometimes in spite of their "pro style". Lomachenko falls in this latter category -- outsized talent, athletic ability and pro style. He'll be very successful in the pros. As has been pointed out, he'll never fight Broner due to size differential. But he'll dominate guys like Vasquez, Demarco, Burns, Abril, et al.
Guillermo Rigondeaux KO 5 Lomachenko @126 catch. Guillermo was a better amateur star, and will claim his place on P4P top 5 on April 13th after only 11 pro fights. Loma is still playing in the ams.
I'm a Rigondeaux fan and will be cheering for him against Donaire but that's ridiculous. Lomachenko only lost one bout as an amateur, he won two olympic golds and three world championships, at two different weights. Rigondeaux won two golds, one world championship and lost anywhere from 4-11 fights as an amateur depending on who you listen to. The facts say that Lomachenko was the better amateur and Lomachenko did it with a pro style i.e. inside fighting and body punching, while Rigondeaux did it with the typical Cuban counter punching style that he still uses today. Lomachenko is fighting under pro rules in the WSB to prepare him for the transition to the pros later this year. At only 25, much younger than Rigo with more accomplishments to his name.
They never said that after the last olympics. If you followed him at all you'd know that it's a certainty that he's turning pro later this year, at the age of 25. I'll take that avatar bet. :hey
if Lomachenko was American he'd be more popular than most pro boxers today. If he isn't a P4P #1 at some point in his career, it really means that he didn't fulfill his potential. That's how good he is.
Amateur boxing means ****. Mexico is the second best country in the world for pro boxing after america and their guys usually have **** all am experience
Lomachenko has won 2 olympic golds and 3 world championships and he's only 2 years older than Broner. Broner is still a prospect, he arguably got beaten by PDL and he has midgets like Rees winning rounds against him. I like Broner but he's still a prospect, he hasn't accomplished anything significant yet.
If he hasn't accomplished anything than Lomachenko has never boxed. Point is Broner has done it at a professional level. He is far more proven now than Lomachenko. Broner is younger and has done more at a far more proven level.
