Abraham has been on a steady decline since moving upto super middle weight, improvement can be deceptive against a perceived lesser opponent.

I'm not saying weight has nothing to do with it, he obviously isn't as effective at super middle but technically Abraham has been really shown up in the last few years. His opponents up to the Taylor fight were far from stellar. He went the full 12 with Simon and fighters like Oral and Ayala, very average fighters, taking him late. If Abraham moved back down to 160 Golovkin i reckon would beat him up bad.

Arthur has gotten lazier since leaving 160, and since his power is less effective that's a bad mix.

Abrahams size really does hinder him with the style he has, it just simply doesn't work against guys a few inches taller and stronger. He isn't a small guy, but he's heavy set, thus his body weighs more than his apparent visual size suggests.

Where does he go from here though. He's too small to compete at SMW with the style he has, yet he can no longer make MW. He's a damaged fighter, who's on the slip, yet still a dangerous opponent because he can bang. He's in a predicament.

I'll always respect Abraham, the fight with the broken jaw is one of the most outstanding feats of bravery I've seen in a boxing ring and he'll have my eternal respect for having the balls to stay in there and win, when absolutely nobody could of criticised him for throwing in the towel.

Hate to say it but the credit should go to Dirrell who humiliated him... then himself.

And on topic I believe it was the doc who pulled him out

He audibly told Wegner "I can't see", (volunteering the information unprompted, IIRC) which is suicide in the ring.

The moment you let any official hear that (ref/physician/commissioner) you've forfeited the match. Every boxer knows that. If you don't want the match to be stopped and have enough partial vision left to want to hang in there and try for a lucky knockout punch - keep your damn mouth shut about it being impaired. Don't even tell your chief second.

The moment you utter those words, it's over.

So even if for a legitimate reason, and indirectly, yes he did quit.

LOL Really? All said that AA looked good against Stieglitz! Suddenly he gets his ass beathen (only 6 month later) dumb people here say AA was done and he was done because Frock and Dirrell beat him? Man this is ****ing bull****. Stieglitz ****ed AA up! Not Froch or Dirrell! Stieglitz was the person who stopped AA and Stieglitz was the person who hurted AA badly the first time.
But yeah Froch and Dirrell did the job:patsch

THIS! If AA wanted to continue he never would say I cant see anything.
AA just saw that Stieglitz would kill him in this ring thats all! Just look at Round two were AA was hurt badly. I bet when they would continue the fight AA would get KOed badly. So it is "just" a TKO.

So true. Stieglitz went in to beast mode and destroyed Abraham in all 3 Rounds. Abraham knew that he would have no chance at all when he fights on! Especially with just one eye.
Never saw Stieglitz that strong. He always had a high work rate but not much power. No it seems he really improved his power in the right hand.

  14. Never been able to stand the arrogant square headed b*stard was great to see him battered again.

Probably more of a reflection really of how thin on quality Sauerland's stable is that it seems absolutely vital that they keep Abraham relevant.
