ingle one is my favourite because i witnessed it first hand and it was my first live boxing event i went to
I remember that as the only one he didn't jump the rope and then got drubbed.Must say I enjoyed his fights and he was excellent but never became the legend he said he was going to be.The man who beat him was though.
Hamed was a great showman and a very entertaining fighter, he came undone eventually against a legendary fighter in Barrera and was humbled but he gave British boxing some great nights. The Kevin Kelley one was my favourite because I was watching and it was his American debut and the fight was a classic.
Can I swim against the tide and just say that I've never thought he was embarrassed or exposed against Barrera. For the first 6/7 rounds it was an even contest but, for whatever reasons, Naz's performance in the 2nd half is half-hearted and lacklustre. Shame that they never had a re-match because I'm a strong believer that the outcome might have been very different.
Nas, had been firing and on all cylinders and had a good training camp, would have beaten Barrera in my opinion. By then though he's admitted himself numerous times that his heart wasn't in it anymore. He barely trained and when he did he put no effort in cause he was so sick of the lifestyle. The Hamed of 1996-98 when he was at his best and with the Ingles was a beast who could beat anyone from 130-135 in my opinion. Just so many things went down hill gradually and by the time he fought Marco Antonio Barrera who was a beast himself there was no gas in the tank, no driver and no steering wheel.
naz should write an autobiography. love his hear his version of events. i'd tweet him everyday about it. but i'm not on twitter.
I don't think so personally but it's a matter of opinion and no one could say for sure. For me I think Barrera beats him 8/9 times if they have ten fights. Hamed realised that Barrera could take his shots and started to get more and more desperate to land something big because the fight was slipping away. Barrera was timing him perfectly and as he got more and more reckless he got hit more and got more disorientated. Against a real class opponent like that Hamed's style just wasn't that effective, I think Marquez would have beaten him and Morales probably too. Hamed was a great fighter with lethal power and one of the most awkward styles of all time, I think even he knows that Barrera had his number though, the fact he never sought a rematch speaks volumes for such an arrogant person.
There is something still very emotional and nostalgic about Chris Eubank entrances to "Tina Turner Simply the Best". Happy times in my life, and the whole family! Would watch his fights on ITV.
Agreed PK, Can't lie as a kid i'd pretend i was Eubank entering the ring to that song. Great stuff.. Yes i was a sad little kid...
Eubank always had a great presence and aura about him and that definitely came across in his ring walks, his posturing once he jumped the top rope and all the crowd started booing was always brilliant!
