Drug testing as early as '85 in Nevada-Bramble tests positive vs Mancini

If I'm correct, the stimulant/drug that Bramble tested positive for in 85' following his second win over Mancini, and which he was fined for, was later confirmed to be a drug for allergies, which Bramble was said to have been suffering from just a few days before the rematch.

 

I know the Miami boxing commission (maybe it was on a state level, I don't know) under whose jurisdiction the first Pryor-Arguello fight was held, was taken to task at the time for not administering the post-fight drug tests that would have either confirmed Pryor's guilt or innocence in the infamous "black bottle" scandal. Ergo, tests were being performed back in 1982 at least.

Or were supposed to.

 

And just to step out of the drug testing scenario piece for a moment and while we're on the subject of Bramble-ManciniII, did anybody know that rematch between those two fighters, which was carried live on HBO, was the absolute first time that HBO's computer/compubox stats in examining punches thrown and punches landed was ever used for a live main event!

 

Monzon was chastised for fleeing the post fight **** test against Napoles. Well, the **** testing peeps weren't happy.

IIRC, they did actually perform the test, but the results were somehow "lost."
