Gvozdyk wasn't himself that night or just really struggled with Cheles' style. Close fight. Overall I'm very impressed with the Ukrainians and think they will win this season comfortably.

Butsenko, Mytrofanov and Usyk were brilliant.

a bunch of robberies in the Argentina vs Kazakhstan match...

Both Sep & Derevyanchenko should have won

I read an interview with Gvozdyk post fight and he mentioned that him and Cheles both fought for Moscow last season so they had sparred often and were very familiar with eachother. I forget Cheles was with Moscow last year.

**** i'll have to check those out. Derevyanchenko was undefeated although i thought Mytrofanov should have won their week 1 fight this season.

So Kazakhstan should be up 4-1 instead of down 3-2? :think

Disappointing to hear, on paper it looked as though one quarterfinal bracket was actually competitive.

The Condors will still need to come up with best three-of-five in Almaty - tall order in any event, but especially if there is some make-up 'justice' scoring.

They need a minimum of two-of-five in order to stave off elimination. (the 5-5 tie would then be decided with a one-off middleweight contest. I'm not sure whose turf it would be on, though. Maybe neutral ground?)

If I'm understanding the seeding correctly, we're most likely going to get the most appealing finals possible: Ukraine vs. GB

So Group A and B were obviously crisscrossed, 4th seed from one against 1st from the other and likewise 3rd against 2nd.

Then Semifinal 1 is A1/B4 (Azerbaijan or Ukraine) vs. A3/B2 (Poland or Italy).

...and so on, down the list.

So looking ahead, the path seems wide open for Ukraine to finish off Azerbaijan before coasting in the semis (probably against Italy).

On the other side, Great Britain visits Mexico in what should be another rout despite being a technical "upset" with their lower group seeding (and despite having already used their p4p best at home in London already) before meeting a slightly bigger challenge in Argentina or Kazakhstan.

Sep/Peralta was punch, clinch, punch, clinch so it made for close action but bit of a hometown decision.

Castano vs Derevyanchenko was not a robbery though.

    Rd1 - Castano
    Rd2 - Sergei
Rd3 - very close, this was the deciding round
    Rd4 - Sergei
    Rd5 - Castano

It was tied going into the 5th since two of the judges gave Castano the 3rd round which wasn't unreasonable and Castano pulled out the last round. I was impressed with him very good footwork, combination punching, feints, handspeed a real good boxer/puncher but can also slug in the pocket when needed.

I don't think Argentina has the depth to win the 2nd session and would be suprised if they managed to get two wins next week.

So am I correct in saying that Ukraine only need to win one of the bouts to advance to the next round? Great to see Selimov v Lomachenko on the WSB website, I'm hoping Lomachenko wins it for Ukraine with style.

If the UKR faces GB in the final, I hope we do not get Lomachenko vs that cheeky Brit for a third time, I honestly cannot even recall his name (Maxwell, I think)l Lomachenko is great to watch but I honestly think I could do without that match up, AGAIN.
