Was the portrayal of Tszyu in the Johnny Lewis biography accurate?

    Vince phillips was knocked out by Anthony Jones & Ike Quartey but he did a pretty good job in stopping KT. Hell the guy was even a coke addict at one stage before he stopped KT. :lol:

    a lot of hate on this board for Kostya.

    I dont recall Oscar or Shane or Tito having many if any fights at 140 and in line to fight kostya

    Yes he could have jumped up to fight but he preferred to unify a division which to me is pretty special

    It is to be expected...if you are going to read a thread at Eastside Boxing forum (Australian section) then you are going to wade though an extreme amount of negative crap...mostly from one "contributor" who keeps claiming to know every bit of inside info ever about Australian boxing.

    ..the whole Kostya/Vince Phillips story was something special I reckon....Vince Phillips losing in the ring as well as in life..then he jagged the Kostya fight and everything turned to gold..I remember reading how he said he dreamed of a big black man carry him on his shoulders around the ring..blah blah..but he was mystified by this because he didn't have a black guy in his camp..then out of the blue on of his old amatuer coaches contacted him about something or other..then bingo..the penny dropped for Vince and he knew he was gunna beat Kostya Tzysu..boxing theatre at it's best..
    ..I nearly ****en cryed to see Kostya lose that day..but was still stoked for Kool Vince..****en oath..he got his day in the sun..:thumbsup

    The Quartey-DelaHoya fight was a barnburner. Brilliant fight especially the end with Oscar pouring it on in the 12th and Quartey being able to hang on. Great fight.

    back then i honestly did know anything about Vince Phillips, i was a huge KT fan and watched him fight live before he won any WT Fights , thought he was like superman so i was very shocked to see Phillips upset KT like that. It was only later on i read up on the story of Phillips. Always wonderd why KT never got his revenge back on Phillips and never fought him again.

    ..same here..I wondered the same..but also glad they didn't rematch...I'm pretty sure Kostya wouldv'e belted him..and i didn't want to see that happen to Kool Vince..

    ..and yeah mate..I was a mad Kostya fan..I loved his style..perfect for me as a fan..the ultimate..:good

    ..but i remmember that card for another reason..the first time I layed eyes on one of my all time favorite fighters..Diego Corrales...:thumbsup
