He got KTFO by a member of the pack, got "rejuvenated" (da ****?) at 154lbs long enough to win to get headbutted to two wins and then get KTFO again by the first boss he ran into. Rodriguez, on the other hand, built on of the best middleweight resumes ever constructed by a former welterweight and would very possibly KTFO Curry again. The guy cracked chins like Armstrong and Falech, fighters that just didn't get stopped. He was a light-hitter? It's pretty clear the thing you are accusing us of is the thing that you're guilty of yourself. Learn about the fighters you're talking about.
There was a thread about Rodriguez vs curry... And it's nice to know that past prime Curry is leagues better than a prime Rodriguez.
LMR is the best fighter I can think of to throw Curry's radar off. The best. Stopped Mundine quicker than Monzon. Choppy enough to inflict cut stoppages on Bahamas and Benton (first man to stop Benton in fact) and we have footage of him dropping middleweights heavily with single shots.
Curry had 1 loss at the time he faced McCallum, how many losses did Griffith/Rodriguez and all the other guys, you wank over have? Because you never usually let losses affect your judgement of pre 80s fighters do you? Rodriguez had respectable power but certainly not devastating from the fights I've seen him in. His KO over Moyer and Mundine being his best KOs I think. And no I've not seen Rodriguez's wins over the journeymen Armstrong/Falech, have you? If so why do you think it's pertinent to how he'd do against a P4P no1? And you make it sound like it's easy to KO Curry based on a couple of KO losses. Does everyone KO Rodriguez based on his KO loss to Benvenuti? Ofcourse not.
Tiresome just reading that post. At least you've managed to up your appreciation for LMR's power (Again, in just one post, also a record).
I've never said Curry was even better than Rodriguez, let alone a league better. And was Curry that much past prime or did McCallum derail Curry's comeback and kill his momentum, I'd go with the latter. Well Flea and Littlered didn't want to make a pick back then, they obviously found it a laughable match up. Hardly got many picks for either to be fair. http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=437318
Having watched him I said he's a lighter hitter and I stand by it. He has some decent KO wins, so does Mayweather Jr, who is also never a brutal puncher. And I'll take that as you ****ing off with your tail between you're legs. Curry-Rodriguez is a fair comparison, even if you are on your blob and consider Rodriguez better.
Prime-for-prime, it's definitely not laughable. The point i've tried to make to you, is that it is not prime. Curry was past prime. Your efforts to paint Curry "rejuvenated" at 154 are ridiculous. His record at 154 is something like 9-5. He was KTFO twice that year. You are matching this guy with a prime LMR, who you've demonstrated you don't know that much about. As soon as i reference top chins he's cracked, you want to label those guys journeymen, call me a wanker, but in the very next breath you're upgrading his power from "light-hitter", or whatever it was to "respectable power." Meanwhile three-four guys are telling you you've read this one wrong and you're still insisting that anyone who disagrees with you is biased to the era. PP, I'm on the Transnational Rankings Board. I spend most of my time watching boxing from this era. I've spent time, recently, looking at all sorts because i'm working on the all time top 100. I know that you know what is coming out of your mouth about me is bull****. But you just can't help yourself. It's an embarrassment.
Actually, you didn't stand by it, but i've no doubt you are again now. just embarrassing. A wanker, on your blob, ****ing off with your tail between your legs. It's not 2008. Grow up.
Littlered and I did post in that thread.....and I'm sure we both agreed that LMR wOuld be kryptonite for Don...unless that was a different thread.
I don't think Griffith would be able to take a fight with MCCallum inside too much, he could do that to the Welter's he was mostly stronger than when he needed to, but that side of his game wasn't the same against middleweights. He wasn't really able to dictate things inside even with Benvenuti who was quite mediocre there, because of the extra range and strength involved.Generally he had to rely on his cuteness and boxing ability to win fights at middle...or would against boiled down huge McCallum at 154 i'm guessing. Griffith was a strong *******, but he was no Carmen Basilio by any means who could get even middleweight bulls like Fullmer to utilise movement. Very close fight though.
Curry did look rejuvenated vs McCallum to be fair to Power. he was very impressive looking, though being as it's only one fight and he didn't look good before it against Montgomery and Santos and was in full on decline afterward, it's tough to say how the Curry that fought Mike would do against the field at 154.
