Canelo Alvarez is NOT beating Austin Trout

He hit Cotto's dick. If I was Cotto, who also has a reputation for hitting dicks, I would have retaliated. Trout probably has a big target down there himself. You'll know my line of thinking if you saw that show where Trout was in the bath tub with those three cougars.

 

Me and BBall were talking yesterday too, I don't see where Saul has had any (notable, if at all) experience with South Paws. :think

It may play some role in this battle as well...

 

first and foremost, I commend canelo for voicing his desire to fight trout and not allowing his handlers to go the money route and match him against fighters he would, at some point early or late, overwhelm and destroy. this is the toughest and most skilled, legitimate jmw he can face, and I respect him for stepping up to the plate as a guy in his early 20's. win or lose, he's a true mexican warrior and a credit to the sport.

I have no idea who will win, but the fight is interesting because trout has proven himself to be a crafty boxer, while canelo is more of a puncher. classic clash of styles, not to mention, it doesnt seem like canelo will have the size advantage, so this will be a tough mountain to scale.

But I do plan to watch Cotto vs Trout again later this evening, I'll keep an eye for the tactics you've been talkin' about here.

 

I dont think its going to matter, Trout doesnt fight like a southpaw he often likes to work on the inside himself which gives up that Southpaw advantage.

But even should he move more as a south paw should and boxes more, I have no doubt that Canelo will have the right sparring partners to prepare him for a southpaw.

My biggest concern if I was an Alvarez fan is his stamina.

Trout will maintain an annoying body attack consisting of straight punches.

Trout likes to move a lot, so Alvarez will move himself if he wants to get to Trout.

Trout clinches in close quarters. Having a taller guy lean on you can be draining if he makes your short ass support his frame.

 

Look at the Cotto fight, if Trout was using his southpaw style effectively Cotto would not be able to land that many lead left hooks... instead of those scoring on the chin those would have hit Trouts right shoulder

 

Stamina, Stamina, Stamina. Canelo has more than enough boxing skill, speed and intelligence to win this fight. If he comes in tip top shape, and shows no problems with his conditioning, he wins the fight. To me, it's that simple.

 

Cotto landed that left several times. Trouts defense is overrated.

The reason why this fight is very difficult to predict is because we can only go based on past fights. We use examples on things they did in other fights. Sometimes even bringing up examples of Canelo when he was 20 or 21. They have much to prove still, especially Canelo at 22 years of age. He is still learning. I'm expecting Canelo to be even better this time around. The kid studies, he isn't stupid. Every boxer he has faced has said the same **** (regardless of size), "HE IS A SMART FIGHTER". I only question his stamina. He has enough skill and intelligence to win and he is also willing to leave it all on the line.

 

Trout alternates between ranges, long and close. He plays that ambush game like the other southpaws Martinez and manny.

Alvarez has suspect stamina while Trout definitely has a below average chin.

 

You say this as if it's a minor detail but it'll be the key for Canelo in this fight. Yes he's flat footed and only fights in explosive bursts but his counter-punching ability can make up for all these flaws. Trout is a good skilled fighter but his defense is not that tight for a slick fighter and his head movement is not very consistent. He keeps his right hand low and is vulnerable to left hook counters when he jabs or when he throws his left hand to the body, as you can see in this gif (the left hook was too short but Trout was wide open for it) :

He's also vulnerable to lead right hands, as all southpaws are, and Canelo throws that shot well.

And I noticed he has a tendency to lean forward with his shots and doesn't fully extend his arms and lock his elbows. That's why when he's punching, he's closer to his opponent than a slick defensive fighter normally likes to be. Good news for Canelo who has the ability to make Trout pay for these defensive flaws.

I think It's gonna be a very competitive fight but I see Canelo's well timed, effective and eye-catching shots helping him win by decision. His quality should trump Trout's quantity.

 

Both of the clips that you showed, are the exact shots Cotto landed on Trout. Exactly the same.

 

There you go, so these are consistent flaws.
