Sauerland was pissed it was stopped. He didn't have a chance to force the fight to continue you like he did against Miranda. Abraham clearly said he could not continue in both fights, but against Miranda Sauerland controlled the fight and forced it to go on.

Are you hinting at something Berliner? :hey

I thought Abraham was riding the storm pretty easily until he took that shot straight on his eye. What would Stieglitz have had left after a few rounds of that?

Abraham did the right thing in getting out whether it was his decision or not, that eye was in a bad way and he could have ended up taking a savage beating for a sustained period. As it stands, he's lost the title but will probably get another big money rematch and will live to fight another day.

I think AA seemed a bit lazy in the opening rounds, Stieglitz tactics were just to jump on him and put him under constant pressure using his height and reach advantage and to keep popping shots in his face all night. AA should have tried to slow him down or break up the action by clinching, use a bit of Hopkins style ring nous rather than just cover up and wait for him to get tired. Peach of a right hand from Stieglitz though, just goes to show one well placed accurate shot can totally change the game.

I noticed AA had a very worried look on face during the walk-in.

You have to wait long until Stieglitz gets tired!
The key for Stieglitz was to make it an inside fight! Also going inside after every action. AA just cant do anything when his opponent is very close to him! He just has no inside game! This was the key! Not the pressure! Stieglitz always makes high pressure on his opponents! This is just the way he fights! They key was just to go inside after every action or to step on the right because AA cant catch or hurt you there.

And dont think that Stieglitz over paced.. this is just the way he fights. Throwing many many shots each round.

That is true; Abraham wanted out against Miranda but was talking into persisting.

Hey P, I know it's been a few years (five bouts at light heavy), but does Miranda have any prayer of making 168 again?

He's got a losing record since moving up and isn't quite strong enough anymore to hang with the elite. (though I had him drawing with Chilemba and doing well early against Despaigne...but those guys aren't really quite elite IMO...maybe Chilemba, barely...)

Stieglitz vs. Miranda would probably be incredibly fun, and would sell in Germany as they're both 2-time Abraham rivals.
