I guarentee you that these guys train harder than you. It's not that they're lazy, it's that their bodies don't work the same as yours. Some people can eat whatever they want and it won't affect their metabolism. Other people's metabolism can be comprimised with very little effort. If you have a comprimised metabolism, you will gain weight unless you eat right.

While you made some good points you ruined it all by using the phrase 'tone yourself up'.

How can you have a moan about this. Why should it affect anyone (you). They putting themselves in the ring, they know the risks if they are not fit. Fair play to them.

Stylez G. is completely wrong. Many recent studies have shown the opinions of neanderthals like Stylez G. to be outdated. Eat less calories than you burn, lose weight. Eat more calories than you burn, gain weight. It really is that simple. You generally want healthier foods because they're the ones that are best in terms of filling you up and boosting your energy/revitalizing your body, but if you're just gonna laze around all day, you can eat whatever food, so long as you don't eat more calories than you burn.

And that, my friend, is that.

Well, your view contradicts the view held by the majority in the personal training industry and the results of thousands of people who have lost weight which is very interesting.

Of course the calorie in-calorie out is a little bit more complex than I explained but it still remains true at the basic level. You could drop your calorie intake to a ridiculous 500 calories per day and burn 1,500 but you risk your body going into starvation mode as it doesn't have the required carbohydrates necessary to facilitate the fat burning process in the first place. It would eat into muscle, but you will lose weight. Ask any anorexic.

People on crash diets eat the bare minimal, maybe some salad, and lose weight. Temporary solution? Yes. Unhealthy? Yes. BUT they lose it because they are burning up the minimal amounts of energy going into their bodies.

I, of course, wouldn't recommend this, favouring a balanced diet with the right protein, fats and carbohydrate percentage but you still need to burn more calories if you want that weight to come off.

It just doesn't disappear into thin air. Your body can only handle a certain amount of fuel burning and can only be stretched so far. Feel free to test it though. Eat a healthy balanced diet of 5,000 calories and burn 1,000 worth of energy a day and see how well you lose weight.

The reason people are fatter today is because modern processed foods are not just unhealthy but contain alot more calories than humans are used to eating. Add to the fact that we live a more sedentary lifestyle and you have a problem of too many calories in and not enough calories out.

To be frank, blaming it simply on 'unhealthy' food and basal metabolic rate is a cop out from fat people who don't want to change their food habits and do some more exercise to ensure their calorie output is higher.

Again, you don't realize that your basal metabic rate is the number one source of energy that you burn. That number is not constant. It will fluctuate depending on what you eat and how much you eat. You can call me a Neanderthal all you want. However, our society as a whole embraces the traditional theory on weight gain and loss. Despite this, our society keeps getting heavier and heavier. The rate of cancer, and type 2 diabetes keeps skyrocketing as well.

That's because people don't apply the theory. It's a cultural and behavioral problem.

All I have to say is james toney. He beat the hell out of Hollyfield with a hell of a lot of flab. Athough evander wasn't at his best that is still impressive and shows that fat can be effective.

Man you don't know **** about dieting or nutrition. The amount of calories you burn a day is your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure).
    Your TDEE contains 4 things
BMR (Basal Metabolic rate). The amount of calories your body needs to sustain itself if you were in a coma
TEF (Thermal Effect of Feeding this is the amount of calories your body uses to digest food. Protein and fiber have the greatest effect on this
NEAT (Non-Exercise Associated Thermogenesis) this is the amount of calories you burn walking around, talking, tapping your foot, cleaning, etc.
EAT (Exercise Associated Thermogenesis) And this is self explanatory

So it's simple calories in vs calories out. All it is. If your TDEE equals up to be 2500 calories a day, then if you get less than that, you'll lose weight. It's simple. If you have hormonal, thyroid or any other type of problems, then your TDEE can lower, making it harder for you to lose weight.

If you eat 3000 calories of fruit, you'll gain weight. If you eat 1500 calories of butter, you'll lose weight.

No it's that they ate too damn much. Simple as. Those people that YOU THINK can eat whatever they want and not gain weight, don't eat over their TDEE because they're very active or they don't eat as much as you think they eat. You could be seeing them eat a bunch of candy all day, but nothing else. Or you go out with them to eat dinner, and they eat a lot of food, but don't see that they skip breakfast and lunch.

It's also been found that jittery people burn more calories throughout the day compared to calmer people. The kids you see in class when you were little who were always moving around or shaking their leg. Who could never stay still. Most of them were slim. There was a study citing that all the extra movement can burn around 200-300 more calories a day
