Dam. Every time Marquez connected it seemed like he was feather fisted. Those punches didn't even looked damaging at all. Floyd looked way more natural and fluid compared to Marquez.

As I see Marquez now. He should of waited until he got use to the weight. Would of been a lot better to see. But oh well, what's happen has happen.

    Great read though.

Marquez just wasn't skilled enough to handle a guy like floyd. Style was all wrong for him.

Marquez was actually looking for openings to land the big shot a window of opportunity that never came. Mosley only had this window in one round after that it was closed and became a boxing match. And there is only one winner in that.

What can I say? Bogo does it again. Quality **** here.

Too bad the *****s wont understand this. It's too complex, since they think weight is the only thing that matters. They like to look at the scale at fight night and that's how they conclude that someone is bigger, regardless of other physical advantages lol. This proves exactly how everything matters. Especially at this level.

Does reach matter? Nah! How about Height? Nah! Overall size? NAH! Jumping up two weight classes to debut? **** no! None of that **** matters in a fight. They will say that May (David) has been fighting bigger men all his life because Baldomir (Goliath) walks around at 180 but is 5'7" with a 68" reach, not to mention his awesome build and athleticism lol. How does May do it??

Why bring stupid into this thread?

    Great analysis, well done!

It must drive you crazy constantly waiting for the right opening which never comes.

You seem confused. On one hand you're asking opponents to bait Floyd to come forward but are now admitting it's Floyd who initiates it.

Anyway, getting back to your analysis, you were essentially asking Marquez to do what Floyd was doing. And again, that's exactly what Floyd wanted him to do.

For one Judah and Cotto are both south paws, and Cotto and Judah are better than 95% of fighters JMM has faced, funny you mention JMM being a better defensive fighter and controller of the middle of the ring but fail to mention him getting put on his ass from so many lefts I lost count(has to be somewhere around 10, Manny did put him on his ass 5 times:lol:)

Great threads though pointing out that JMM did better then given credit for, JMM will never beat Floyd or come close though, he never did or never will have any answer for a left hand.......................

Damn it Bogo now I want both of their career sets more!

Once again another great breakdown. If I'm not asking too much a Pac-Jmm IV(still I havent seen it yet might do so b4 work), Mayweather-Cotto, and Cotto-Trout ones and Hopkins-Cloud as a bonus lol would be great additions. Again only suggestions I appreciate what you have done, currently do, and will do. Wish more posters took the time to study these subtle things then this place wouldn't be a shithole anymore. Threads like this sustain General's life.

I always wanted to see this. I mean I always wanted to see a guy make the counter puncher lead. Like a Cory Spinks type who would never engage and would run around the ring and make Floyd chase him

Not confused. Against southpaws, Floyd initiates it. But If you bait him, it further encourages him to continue to do so. It's not an either-or situation.

I'm asking Marquez to step out backwards and circle and make Floyd reach and be dynamic going in and out, Floyd did not want him running I don't think.

Cotto, Corley, De La Hoya, Augustus, Hatton...all less skilled but better suited for Marquez. It wasn't a lack of skill IMO. But style, hell yes, very problematic for JMM.

Floyd has the better defense overall, but JMM can control the center of the ring better IMO. Better defensive ring general, but not the better defensive fighter, which is clear. Can't afford to be, JMM's whole style is risk-management and sometimes pays the price early.

Additionally, Marquez neutralized Manny's left for pretty much the entire 3rd fight and rarely got cornered. Floyd's jab was an issue but because of its length, JMM's overhand right feeds off of orthodox left jabs. He's not categorically susceptible to left-hand shots at all, he's a master at fighting southpaws, evidenced by his victory over like 10 of them throughout his career.

    Glad you enjoyed it man.

If he initiates it then you can't bait him to do it....he's already doing it. Which he does continually.

    EDIT

Anyway, like I said. What you're asking Marquez to do is actually what Floyd is doing. And it's exactly what he wants from his opponents.

    Not the point.

If someone initiates and are offensive-minded, you can trigger certain punches. That's the essence of being a counter-puncher.

It's not what Floyd wants his opponents doing, he has success when his opponents come forward continuously and in a rhythm. Only one of them can be going backwards, and JMM would have success setting the terms that way from time to time instead of just coming forward or getting pushed back.
