I had no gripes with his analysis, just the things like 'you need to buy a career set' and 'you shouldn't be allowed to comment on the greats' as I'm very familiar with Bill's posting style.

Look at the one above. He's a Morales fan and can't get his bias out of the way.

Condescending enough to assume Magna, who has boxed and been in boxing for, I imagine over a decade, is 'missing the point with Morales'.

He's a joke of a poster IMO, at least on this sub-forum. And I don't dislike Bill! He's sound most of the time. Just very cringeworthy, especially when it comes to Morales.

If I made a thread now 'who is greater Emile Griffith or Erik Morales' he'd find a way ;)

Ive always felt that Hamed had a lot more respect for Morales than he did for MAB, dunno why. I think it was in one of his interviews

You & PP talk about Morales as if he is some B level brawler with no brains that would just walk in there & bang it out with Naseem Hamed, you need to get a grip, Morales is way better than that. You underestimate his boxing intelligence if you believe that.

Yes, he picked Morales to beat Barrera in their first fight, stating the reason as Morales has been fighting & beating the better fighters, he never mentioned Barrera (& Morales) vs Junior Jones but that was likely on his mind as well.

The Morales-Naz fight was in the works late 2000/early 2001 but Naz called out Barrera & that was that.

I know some felt that Morales style might have suited Naz better than Barrera`s style, but I think Naz himself felt vice versa, he probably felt Barrera would break easier than Morales, we`ll never know for sure now which is a shame, Morales vs Naz would have been fascinating as hell.

Emile is a bit too big but shrink him down & Morales wipes his ass with him ;)

according to Manny Steward, part of Hameds training regime for MAB included watching reruns of junior jones koing MAB and he was confident he would do the same

That`s crazy, Steward should have known better than that.

Its only common sense to always expect the best version of the man your facing to turn up, they should have been watching Marco vs Morales & Jesus Salud, Barrera arguably never looked better than in those 2 fights AND they were much more recent than the Jones fights.

A really big deal for Hamed is the fact that he never came back from the MAB fight, and he never fought Morales.

The speculation is all out there because the Morales fight never happened. It didn't get hindered by Morales - that's for sure. Morales would've let us know who the better fighter was.

Hamed didn't respond to defeat like a champion. Look across at PacMan, Morales, Barrera - these guys want to fight and find out about themselves. Push themselves, raise themselves up to the next rung. They're not preoccupied with the cosmetics of being unbeaten, unbeatable, or having an unblemished record. These guys are gladiators, and they want to bring it.

Hamed was a show pony - he had unorthodox, awkward skills, the ability to switch hit, incredible show stopping power in both hands, and insane twisting, contorted shots. But he wasn't great - because that comes from discipline and dedication, and heart, and something deep inside that makes a genuine champion and sets them apart. Hamed just didn't have that. He was close, but he recognised something in Barrera that made him pack it in - that's what I think anyway.
