One of his best fights for sure.

It was a great display but I prefer his performance against Gatti.

I think the best boxing display of the last 10 years is either Floyd/Gatti, Hopkins/Pavlik or Toney/Jirov.

Those predictions are hilarious. Once again people fall in love with the puncher they let KO power get in the way of seeing great boxing ability.:-( Skills pay the bills.:deal

DLHs performance over Gatti is a tad more brutal... I think you also have to consider the opponent here... Gatti has lost to Manfredy,Robinson twice, DLH, and Micky Ward all prior to his fight with Floyd.

The Corrales argument is solid but I also believe that Hopkins Tito out does it in terms of what Trinidad had accomplished leading up to the fight and what Chico did not accomplish while going into his fight with Floyd.

Tito was atleast at times was competitive with Hopkins, Chico wasn't. He got completely and utterly schooled.

Yeah Gatti was definitely shop worn at that point but I'm not comparing the achievement, just how much boxing skills Floyd displayed in that performance.

I understand but anyone who knew boxing knew that Hopkins would beat Tito. Hopkins was a hard man an established champ with a high ring IQ and good defense. I knew he would beat Tito going away. It was easy money and an easy pick.

You're exaggerating. That was not the same Mayweather people know now. He still had a lot to prove to many people. He was still learning and growing as a boxer. He was able to win in great fashion but those predictions weren't something to laugh about. Corrales was also a big dude. At that time, I can see why people had Corrales as a favorite.

True, but I like them for the fact that it crushes a lot of revisionist history.

I never had Trinidad in that fight at all I dont know what you are talking about....

either way, Trinidad was more established had won titles in three different divisions before fighting Hopkins, that win that performance stands out more....

That was Floyd's best performance and the first time in a long time where he was the underdog ..What ever happened to that guy all we see now is the king of mismatches and selective match making !

    Bazooka,

Did you think Corrales would win? And did you hate Floyd during those years as well or just since he's moved up to 147-154?

Tito won a round or two in that fight and he did hit Hopkins with a few good shots. Chico didn't win a minute against PBF.
