For example how much will boxnation pay to put on a flyoyd Guerrero fight. Or this weekends Rios Alvarado fight?

And also with Sky. Do they pay Eddie Hearn for each boxing event, thenhope they recoup that back in advertising etc.

And if so how much does it cost and how does that compare with the cost of putting on other sports like Football, Cricket, Tennis etc.

    How does it all work?

Depends- buying a show broadcast from America will be a lot cheaper than doing a show out here.

When you factor in gallery trucks and operators, cameramen, presenters, sound guys, runners, camera assistants- its not a cheap process. Cameramen alone can charge at least £300 a day plus if they bring their own equipment.

A championship football club i used to work at had 20 members of crew for match days and that was only for inhouse footage!

Of course money can be recouped from advertising etc- which is why football rights are so expensive.

Do Sky Pay Hearn, who then pays the fighters?

I remember speaking to a promoter during the Friday Fight Night era and he claimed that the promoter got paid a set fee of £80k for each show. They then kept any additional income from ticket sales, ring sponsorship etc.

Thats why there was a bit of a ceiling to those kind of events with one British/Euro title topping the bill a good prospect as chief support then the rest prospect journeyman. You didnt or rarely got big international opposition as there was no incentive to pay extra on flights and other miscellaneous costs as it will hit you in the pocket not Sky.

As a result we saw more Eastern Euro opposition come over which was cheaper and and more "in house" fights for British and Euro titles.

I can't source this stuff, but I remember reading that Sky were supposed to pay 80k--120k for a show. But that's in more recent times. When they first got into boxing F.W. got millions from them I think. I'm guessing Eddie Hearn can't be getting that much for his shows, as he says that there is "nothing in the middle" between the regular shows on Sky Sports and PPV. Compare with America where you have HBO and Showtime that will often pay a fee of 1--3 million $ for a fight.

I think venusdiablo suggested 300k for UK rights to the last Floyd fight.

I have seen the number of 40k given for Sky having a Jermain Taylor fight in the past.

But I'm not saying those numbers are solid fact!
