Canelos close to that, but that don't mean **** either. Only name I rate on his resume is Kessler. Hopkins is going on almost 50 now. So when he fought Hopkins, Hopkins was OLD. As for RJJ, he was as shot to ****.

Hopkins was old...and considered the best Light Heavyweight in the world when he fought Calzaghe in 2008, and was considered the best Light Heavyweight in the world from 2009 to 2011/2012, and is still beating world level opposition today.

Now, I dont know about you, but I tend to judge people based on their achievements and not on their age. It's undeniable that Hopkins was old when he fought Calzaghe - hell! Hopkins was pretty old when he fought Trinidad in 2001 - but that's no excuse for people who want to downgrade his loss. He was still elite, still capable of beating world level fighters, still competing at the highest level, and is still doing that almost five years after that fight. If old-man Hopkins is any less effective a fighter than physical-prime Hopkins then it is only be the narrowest of margins and, frankly, old-man Hopkins' resume shits all over physical-prime Hopkins' one.

The list would go on forever if talking 175
So im only going with other 168 lbers. Its hard to rate a prime Calzaghe other than the 2006 motivated one. Even than though he had hand troubles which forced him to stop punching hard on one shot and adopt that poor mans jack dempsey whirlwind impression. Still i think the story of his hands was exaggerated to some degree by enzo and joseph calzaghe.

    First off
Hearns of 89 although shot and slower than yesteryear beats Calzaghe, just too different, too fast handed and skilled to be troubled by him. It would likely be a kayo by a body shot or a sudden ending.

Toney of 1993 was in a different league . Calzaghes maurauding style would have been right up Toneys street as seen in his beating of williams and barkley.

Jones of the 90s obviously toys with Joe

Ive always thought a prime hungry Benn circa 1993-94 would have given Calzaghe hell and perhaps shaded it a 50/50 fight imo

Ottke may have been troublesome but Joe beats him and the rest including Ward and Froch who are not in the league of Benn, Toney,Jones jnr and Hearns of 89.

The one i cant decide on is SRL of 89. The SRL of the Hearns fight slow and labouring loses like he did to Norris. The SRL of Duran III fast handed and quick reflexes wins a stunning decision.

Calzaghe would take Froch to school much like Ward did.
