Was Lomachenko hurt in the third round? To me it looked like he grimaced from a body shot. With that being said I always think Lomachenko did worse than he actually did when I watch his fights live, it must be the anxiety when I'm watching.

Yes. Still think he can beat Broner and Gamboa?

I feel like this was Lomachenko's (btw, we need a nickname for this guy, a la Pac, JMM, FMJ, ect) chance to prove the over hype isn't over hype, and he didn't really do it in this match. Yeah, yeah, yeah..."tough opponent"...like I said..."over" hype. Lomachenko 14, Selimov 10.

    Not really tbh.

He doesn't have an imposing jab or great power & it looked like he slowed down a fair bit after a sustained body attack from Selimov.

Loma has a bright future but lets keep it real, he's not an unbeatable monster.

I think Selimov could beat Broner and Gamboa as well. Selimov fought Gamboa when he was young and Gamboa was already a gold medallist, Selimov narrowly lost.
I wouldn't expect you to understand boxing, you're free to think what you want.

    Definitely.

One thing to look for in future encounters: If you watch some of Seliov's other fights against lesser opponents, he's really working hard on that shoulder-roll style. Didn't use it very often against Lomachenko (probably not completely confident with it yet), but when he did it gave Vasyl trouble. I'm looking for him to work on it more and eventually start to use it consistently a la Mayweather, which could mean trouble for Lomachenko in a 12 rounder. He's very open to the body on the inside and that style (used by a southpaw) is perfect to exploit it. Left uppercut to the liver is right there.

wait til he fights a tough mexican fighter in the pros. I've seen many great amateurs come into the pros and lose this way. It's how I envision Rashee ****** losing. He's going to be 17-0 headlining Showbox or some FNF type event. Outclass the guy for 3 rounds and then get tired and stopped later in the fight

From what ive seen he whack fairly hard, he's forced 8 counts on a few bigger fighters in the WSB, like Maxwell and Suqrez. He has a very good body attack. And its not like 5 rounds is a long time for him to break down his opponents and get the job done.

He's got good lateral at he same time and solid defense, and can pick his shots well. I think he can look a lot better than he looked today, I put that down to a quality opponent in Selimov, and the pressure on him just to get the win.

Though after watching a fair few of his fights it looks like he's not really a lightweight like I thought, he seems his natural weight would be 130.

You're right but I think people are underestimating Selimov here, I knew that was going to be the greatest chance of seeing Lomachenko lose over the next few years. His jab/screw shot was his most effective punch there.
Nobody ever has or ever will be unbeatable, though Lomachenko is still the closest to unbeatable I've ever seen. That was a good experience for Vasyl, do you think Selimov hasn't been thinking about and preparing for revenge over the years? Selimov was the clear favourite for gold in Beijing and Lomachenko was the one who stopped him. Selimov would've had a plan A,B,C coming into the fight and Vasyl still won. Fighting Maxwell and then stepping up to Selimov is a big jump.

Anyone know if the Semi Final and Finals are 2 event/10 fights like the Quarter Finals have been or do they go back to just one event 5 fights?

Agree with most of that, especially the final paragraph.

I hope he turns pro once the WSB season is over. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to the 12 round distance, his style is a bit hyper & he'll need to settle down & conserve more energy.

I picture Raushee losing in his 7th pro fight to a journeyman. Raushee has nothing, he's never been particularly skilled and has relied on his athleticism, which has deteriorated over the last few years as well.

How the **** would you not expect me to understand boxing, you ****ing idiot? Because I disagree with you, you think I don't know boxing? How old are you? I'm 33, been a avid fan since the age of six. I know boxing. I'm not gonna say I know more than you, because there is no real way to determine that, but I will say you seem far more like an infatuated nuthugger when it comes to Lomachenko, as opposed to someone who "understands boxing".

Actually, you thinking Selimov and Lomachenko could beat seasoned pros like Broner and Gamboa shows you might not understand boxing as much as you think.

Very interesting fight, I thought Selimov boxed very well and showed he himself could have a good career in the pro ranks if he decides to go that route.

Lomachenko, not at his absolute best but won clearly for me. Footwork and defence, very good as always, not as aggresive as id hope but he picked his punches and was obviously worried more about the win than putting on a great show, espicially with the history between the two. Says a lot about his attitude that he specifically choose to fight Selimov, he could easily have decided to fight lad week and have Ukrakne send Berinchyk in his place, love that will to prove to be the best, and take the hardest challenge. Usyk was the same last week.

Also shows the advantages of using the WSB as a half way house before turning pro. This was Selimov 5th fight under pro rules I believe, Lomachenko 4th. The level of fight they had is miles above what they would have had in a corresponding stage in the ranks. Should be invaluable experience going forward for both men in their future careers
