He will get credit once he takes the fights that the fans want to see and wins, not the fights he wants which then in turn sells it as a great match to his fans....

I am talking about the fans all together, so the moment he fights and beats Martinez at 160 or the winner of Canelo vs Trout at 154 and wins there is no choice but to credit the man.

He had some fights that could have saved him from the scrutiny he gets but he elected not to take those fights, you cant blame the people who doubt him or question his career those are the fights they wanted to see.

 

There is no reason for him to fight at 160. 154 isn't even where he should be. 147 is his weight class. Deal with it.

 

He's also 2x SWW champ, currently ranked #1. If there's a choice between a highly marketable, more challenging fight at 154, and a lesser fight in all regards at 147, which one should he go for?

 

He should go for the winner of canelo trout in September. I think it will happen. He isn't a 154 fighter though. I don't have much of a problem with the Guerrero fight, because he has limited options at 147 right now. That being said, I won't buy the ppv in may.

 

Mayweather is someone that has beaten 3 guys that were ranked in the #5 P4P at the time of fighting them and lost one round in all 3 combined.

So Floyd should fight at a weight he isn't his most effective at? Canelo has 40+ fights and won't even fight the guys at his weight and won't move up in weight. Martinez won't even move up to fight ward. Ward won't get out of 168 and go to 175.

Floyd is the only guy people want to move up in weight to fight bigger fighters when he has fought bigger guys his entire career but all these other dudes like ward, Canelo, Martinez and others don't have the same expectations.

 

Marquez moved up 5 weight classes and fought tougher fighters. And he's nowhere near as equiped to move up as Floyd. Fighting top SWW is what you'd expect from a #1 ranked 2x super welter champ, especially if it's slim pickings below.

 

So jmm has fought tougher and better fighters than Floyd?

Sure but his reach has only expanded. I don't think he managed that many fighters 5 years ago, so it may not be a rule at all.
