Before we go any further lets get something very clear!

I do not listen to commentators, specially SKY commentators to forge opinions! please do not insult me, I go from what I can see.

Chilemba was too inactive for the majority of the fight, I managed to score 3 rounds for him maximum 5 because he simply was not active enough.

"Better Defensively" doesnt score you points mate, if Bellew was having his head snapped back in 1 of every 3 exchanges whilst still tearing into Chilemba it would be relevant, he wasn't! Chilemba was gun shy! he wouldnt let his hands go

I simply fail to se how so may so-called boxing fans actually gave him so many rounds, he didnt show up for most of the dam fight

Clear, clear non objectivity being seen on the Bellew scoring in this forum IMHO

Why did we give Chilemba rounds? Because he picked Tony apart and made him look very average at times, you score rounds for Bellew for hitting fresh air and getting countered with clean effective punches? Cool story, bro.

Break your rounds down mate, I want to see what rounds you gave to Bellew and Chilemba respectively

Then I will be able to appreciate some of these statements

Because I actually seen it the opposite way, Chilemba being lethargical for most part and Bellew forcing the issue. Yes Chilemba took the center of the ring for 5 through 7, before that he was being hit on the ropes and surviving by an large! Then after that it was back an forth, nobody really exerting themself as the aggressor, or applying the greater ring generalship

Actually, defence does score you points an is part of the scoring criteria, along with ring generalship and clean, effective punching, all of which Chilemba was better than Bellew at.

Close fight, Tony was swinging and missing and Chilemba was better then I think Tony realised or thought he was. I scored it for Chilemba by a round or two.

I don't want to see the rematch, ugly clash of styles, but if it happens I'm backing Chilemba to beat him by making the adjustments

The criteria for scoring fights is set, Judges choose to use what they like.

Chilemba showed good defence, He controlled a majority of the middle rounds IMO even when not throwing his footwork going forward and laterally was backing up Tony and even though Tony may of thrown double what Chilemba did in rounds. Chilemba would land the scoring/eye catching shots.

Strange fight but Chilemba controlled the fight in the middle to late rounds. Bellew controlled the destiny of proceedings early on by pressing forward.

Defensive work is recognised when coupled with offensive success, in direct proportion to your opponents in-ability to hit you!

Chilemba didnt hit Bellew enough for Tony's work to be discarded, he simply did not. I have said already once Bellew wasnt landing a lot, but his work and posture was outweighing Chilemba's single shots, that were seldom!

Chilemba only threw in 3's an 4's when Bellew was throwing in 3's an 4's and it was in defensive desperation.

Punches that don't actually land aren't scoring punches, mate. FWIW, I gave Tony 3 of the first 4 rounds simply because he was coming forward and being busier. Ok, he wasn't landing, but neither was Chilemba and Tony wa doing more.

From round 5 onwards though, Chilemba WAS landing, he was controlling the pace of the fight, he had the centre of the ring, he was preventing Tony from landing and he was clearly dictating the terms of the fight. I can only condone scoring a fight for work-rate when neither fighter is landing, but Chilemba was landing and he was making Bellew miss.

    Appreciate the debate,

Have to politely disagree :good sign of boxing today when a guy who literally threw nothing in terms of meaningful effective combinations or never looked to step in and land a single fight ending shot gets gifted a draw and then has people yelling he was controlling the fight. Obviously my criteria of actually winning a fight is different in this one.

    Again appreciate the debate.

If Bellew's throwing 50 punches a round but is landing about 10 whilst Chilemba is only throwing 20/25 but landing 15 or more he's winning that round.

Bit overly simplified and depends on the types of punches but quantity has **** all to do with scoring.
