He's naturally in the mid/high 180's, when he hammered Matt Ellis he weighed in at 190lbs. If he wants to fight at cruiser there's nothing that says he has to go all the way up to 200. At 175 he's just selling himself short - Farnell wanted him up at cruiser and that was ages ago, it's only going to get harder for a man in his 30's, well over 6ft.
LOL! How many fights did he heave at 175? Now he looked **** and people say he was drained... Do you guys really think he could do anything at cruiser? Beller is just a domestic fighter nothing more. There is just nothing special about him.
TBH Berliner this has been spoken about for years. It was mentioned before he fought Cleverly. I think Tony could go up, He'd need to develop the body and build into the weight. It's not just a case of ''Oh now i can eat this and this'' and find himself weighing in at around 200lbs.
He's defiantly naturally a cruiser. When I look at Tony, he looks like he's starving himself. He's a big man, but looks gaunt at 175.
Tony Bellews body if fed correctly coupled with a high intensity work out regime "ring any bells" would fill out in a matter of 3-4 weeks, and he would physically feel the difference of a more complex carbohydrate intake in days.
He'd be fighting opponents who enter the ring at 215lbs+, so if his fighting weight was 190, he'd be at a big disadvantage. Cruiserweight is full of huge men. Guys like Lebedev, Huck, Chambers, Herndandez etc., would make Bellew look tiny in comparison. I'm not sure why there's always this discussion about Bellew in particular. He makes weight fine, yet people are always insistent he should be a cruiserweight. It's probably because of his body shape but there are parallels with Pavlik. People said that when Pavlik moved up in weight he would add plenty of muscle and be a better fighter, which turned out to be untrue because middleweight was Pavlik's natural weight, and I sense it's the same with Bellew. He's a natural light heavyweight, even if he doesn't have the physique of one. He, like Pavlik, would move up and find out that the added muscle would make him sluggish because of the negative effect unnatural muscle brings. He's a fit and strong light heavyweight and I see no reason to think that it's not his natural weight. If he did try and move up to cruiser, he'd have to add at least 15lbs of muscle but that then wouldn't be his natural body.
And why does he dont move up? Bellew had 21 fights now at LHW if he really would be drained or to big at this weight dont you think his team would make the best for Bellew? He is just nothing special! I cant see anything special with Bellew! Now people say it is because he was drained... no it is because he was missing wide with his most shots wich cost you a lot of power! Jumping in and then missing wide is very bad! To make noise at Cruiserweight is much harder than at LHW.I really cant see how he would be any good at cruiser... guys like Afolabi, Huck, Arslan, Hernandez, Lebedev and co... are much stronger than Bellew ever will be.
Firstly not claiming he is anything special. He says he feels like he can his best at LHW. Sometimes fighters think the wrong thing, I haven't said he should go to CW. His team may of got it wrong, Sometimes team's think being bigger at the weight helps. He's making it safely now but before Cleverly he was doing it extremely dangerous. Draining a lot of weight to make the weight.. BTW find it rich how you say Bellew isn't anything special yet praise average guys like Charr who's distinctly average. Bellew is average. A fringe world level operator (like Charr) in a top division, Cruiserweight would be extremely tough for him although he could win some fights there.
the cruisers you have mentioned would be an absolute nightmare for bellew and would ko him and quite badly
I dont say Charr is anything special! Most of the time it is a joke from me. Charr is clearly the weakest contender Haye could fight.
Of course they would. Bellew has no chance to beat a top cruiserweight at all. I really cant see how.
He's pretty average at 175. Hardly going to get better with an extra 25lbs on his frame - it's not like Haye who had a massive speed advantage, or a Toney with a really incredible skillset.
:good Apologies i genuinely thought you believed he was the goods . I agree Bellew would find CW extemely tough. People see names at 175 and automatically think oh CW hasn't got any stars. He do well there.. Doesn't work like that as we know.
