Bellew SHOULD move up to Cruiser!

No... it is somethin strange in ESB... all guys hyping up Charr pretty hard.
I like Charr as a fighter but he really is maybe just a little bit better than Chisora (at his highest level).
People have to see that all the top cruiserweights are all huge men compared to bellew. I really cant see him beating one of them.

 

Tony Bellew is fighting at the wrong weight. His performance and body revealed the symptoms of overtraining and undernourishment, with the former caused by the latter.

He looked soft, evidence of water retention, which occurs when the body is placed under extreme physical exertion over a prolonged period without enough nutrition to enable it to properly recover. The body responds by attempting to retain the whatever nutrients is available to it, which causes water retention.

His face also betrayed the signs of weight drain.

 

I am no expert on nutrition etc but I thought Bellew looked gaunt at the weigh in. He didnt look strong in the fight and I have being saying this (as have many others) for a while now, that he seems to struggle to make the weight. His work rate dipped very noticably against Chilemba and Cleverly after 6 rounds.

Outside of doing what is best for his career, you only have to read Don McRae's indepth article with Kieran Farrell in the Guardian to get a picture of the real dangers of weight draining your body and boxing. I hope Bellew is getting the right advice about this best (and safest) fighting weight, and that it isnt overrided by purely commercial decisions i.e. potentially bigger fights at light heavy.

 

Where is the evidence that he's weight draining though? Everyone in his camp said his training went great, Bellew himself said that training was fine, so I'm not sure why people have come to the conclusion it wasn't. He looked like he has done for his last few fights, when he destroyed McIntosh, was stronger than Miranda and showed good stamina over 12 against Bolonti. People have been using this same old 'weight drained' argument since before the Ajisafe fight and in the following bouts, he hasn't once struggled to make weight, nor has he displayed weakness in the ring. How many fighters who are weight drained can continue to push it for years at the exact same weight, with no physical signs of deterioration? He's not even struggling with his fitness, which is typically one of the first things which goes when a fighter can't make weight properly.

Bellew's natural physique is smooth and that appearance is nothing to do with him retaining water. He works with CNP, so if he wasn't eating well, that's not something Kerry Kayes would accept.

I really don't see any strength to the argument that Bellew is draining himself. I think it's based on his natural physique, which wil never be muscular, and maybe the fact that as an amateur, he was a heavyweight, though an out of shape one.

 

Was thinking he looked drained last night when his name was being announced, looks like he needs to put on some muscle but like others have said he might be too small for cruiser.

 

I think he'd be much better at cruiser. I mean he's naturally bigger than Adamek and he done it so I don't understand this talk of him being a little guy up there. Lebedev, Tarver, Branco have all moved up from LH too.

Last resort he can take a page from Danny Greens book and fight at "Tony" weight.:happy

 

if Bellew moved up to crusier people like Huck, Hernadez, lebedev, Ross, Kayode, Tarver, Afolabi even an ancient Fragomeni would put a beating on he would probbaly get his wish in leaving the ring in stretcher

he would get no where near as close to a title shot as he is at light heavywieght

 

If Tony Bellew was not on a restricted diet, he would be a Crusierweight!

He would probably be over 200 pounds.

 

I mean his team knows why they want Bellew to fight at LHW!
If he is a natural cruiserweight why dont he fights there? No Cruiserweight would be bad. Even an old Arslan would walk Bellew down in each round and could KO him easy!

 

That's just his natural physique. He doesn't look underfed at all though as I suspected, the majority of people who are saying he should be at cruiserweight are basing it solely on the way Bellew looks, which is absurd. It's the most basic thinking possible, and completely wrong.

Bellew makes the weight easily. He is fit and strong at the weight. Until that changes, he shouldn't move up.

 

Bellew would get beaten badly at Cruiserweight. But well if he moves up put him in with Arslan, Huck or Hernandez...
But yeah you know better than his team right? And his promoter? If Bellew is dead at the weight his team would not let him fight there!
Bellew missed badly many many timse in each round! This costs a lot of power and stamina! No wonder he looked tired!

 

I always thought it was a lucrative thing as he does look gaunt at the weight.But i dont think he lacks power at lightheavy
