what is the rumour about Crollas training?

I can believe that. It's not just the walking forward, it's the walking forward with such a big ****in' gap between the hands, that it just invites straight punches all night long. So ******ed. At least someone like Brandon rios covers his ****in' face when advancing forward. I remember Murray against Rios, with his hands so far apart they were like ****ing goal posts, and rios kept scoring all night at the open goal. Still Murray did not change. One of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a boxing ring. :patsch

With a guard that high and tight to your ears, how the hell are you supposed to counter?

Not that I think many of them have the attributes to be skilled counter punchers, certainly not in the top bracket, but Hatton could counter quite nicely in his earlier days, and even Froch with his slow ass hands wipes the floor with all of them at it.

The plodding footwork is probably the worst thing, they can't control the distance at all.... Kevin Mitchell just retreated regularly before stepping in with the right hands to bash Murray up.

Common sense tells you that hooks take longer to reach the target than punches travelling in a straight line. Having the hands in front wouldn't be a problem as if a hook came you could easily move the hands to the side of the head in time to block the incoming hook. Having the hands pinned to the ears and then having to move them to the front of the face to block a straight punch would be much more difficult as you'd have a lot less time. So why on earth would you have a guard like that while plodding forward with no head movement? It really is hard to believe.

Beeston i agree with most of what you said mate. He didn't train Paul Smith for the DeGale fight though. Think Smith started well against Groves but George picked out a peach. I can't point finger at Joe for that loss.

I think he found a formula and banged it out till his fighters started getting banged out. I think Quigg's display against Munroe showed he may of learned a little. Quigg did box well that night, Showed some classy moves although Munroe was poor. I think the tactics were right..

I think he's very much his own man, A introvert characther and people take him or leave him.

I think he gets a lot of slating on here, A lot of it are just but do think he's done some good work with fighters but it's been tarnished by some of his talented fighters not building on there talent and fighting as you rightly say in the wrong way.

Smith's tactics against Selby were appalling. So was Crolla's one tracked display against Mathews. He seems to get fighters going well then they just don't develop. I think the formula like Booth's off the back foot counter punching needs to change because all fights are different. He develop Murray really well then he stagnated, John never ever developed a jab and the use of angles. I look at a guy like Alvarado and in 12 years he's developed and between the two Rios fights showed different techniques. John and Joe just kept plodding on. Really sad because John could of been better IMHO.

I think Joe's a good trainer, Had a good point then with that comes the lows. He's learning and wish him all the best.
