Mando Ramos & Bonevana gave him trouble, and Quarry was a boxer / puncher as well as Jimmy Ellis. Bob Foster was a powerful LtHvy.

Ali's right hand might have been the hardest punch he defeated.

Did Frazier happen to come along at just the right time??

Joe Frazier never defeated any of the big punchers of the era..George Foreman, Sonny Liston, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle....You have a point.

What about Doug Jones and Buster Mathis? They were both big punchers but their boxing skill overshadowed this.

Jones and Quarry both probably hit about as hard as Lyle - why would you acknowledge Lyle as being among "the big punchers of the era" but not those two?

Jerry Quarry looked like a pretty big puncher when he blasted out Ernie Shavers, Thad Spencer and Mac Foster. He just couldn't hurt Joe Frazier.

Jones was a light heavyweight. No way he hit as hard as Lyle, who was a real heavy by modern standards.

Oscar Bonavena was a big puncher. Not a great finisher once he hit the elite level heavyweights. But a powerful banger who hit just as hard (perhaps even harder) than Ron Lyle, imho.

Joe Frazier was stopped by only two men, Ali and Foreman. Foreman stopped a long list of opponents. So too did Ali. Not sure why anyone would want to try and detract from Frazier's accomplishments?

Ellis had a better right hand than jimmy young and Ali and both put Foreman down.

Doug Jones, Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Ellis, Oscar Bonavena, Joe Bugner, and George Chuvalo could all punch hard. Hell, Jones and Bonavena rocked Ali at one point, and especially Bonavena, who actually staggered him. Quarry starched a lot of guys. Chuvalo was very strong and never took a backwards step. How many guys stopped Chuvalo? Only Foreman and Frazier. And Chuvalo had 64 KOs in 73 wins. Bugner wasn't exactly a little guy either. So yes, Frazier could beat a puncher. He just couldn't beat one of the most tremendous punchers of all time.

Frazier beat some punchers that Foreman did not such as Quarry (and took Quarry's punches Better than Shavers or Lyle) Ramos could punch, Bob Foster,Jimmy Ellis had a very good right hand, Bonavena had Ali hurt several times and Frazier took his punches (dropped 2x in first fight but a very green Joe got up to win) Chuvalo,Frazier took many of Ali's best punches better than Foreman,Lyle,...A lot of people take the Frazier of the Foreman fight as a rule of thumb but that Frazier was spent and he got up 6x vs Big George (far from a glass jaw)
