If he has to get in the ring with Golovkin in June. When he spoke about fighting him on ringside the other week, he didn't seemed thrilled by the prospect. Wouldn't blame him in the slightest.

Macklin could win this wouldn't be as straightforward as people think

Macklin were tweeting last week that whilst he would love to fight Golovkin he doesn't want to do it in June as he's only had the one round against Alcine in the past year whilst GGG has been busy.

Workrate and pressure, Golovkin has looked great against C level fighters but in truth he hasn't faced anyone near Macklin's class whereas Macklin effectively has a victory against Sturm and he pushed Martinez all the way. GGG is massively overrated

Fair enough i guess, at least he acknowledges and knows full well the size of the task. Have a feeling we might get Golovkin-Vera in June, which is his mandatory. That would be dissapointing though. Altough Vera has shown to be durable in the past, well....so was Ishida. Golovkin would annihilate him.

I don't think Macklin really has a punch to worry Golovkin, a guy that's never been down. He's not really a big puncher, is he? There is a bit of smoke and mirrors in a few of his KO's, against guys with questionable durability. But a lot of his punches are pushed, except some left-hooks.

I don't think he can do much but hustle and bustle at this level either, and if he does that against Golovkin who actually is a puncher which is abundantly obvious from the amateur days to now, and in his technique, its not really pretty. Golovkin also has a lot more head movement and an intuitive feel for riding punches, whereas Matthew is quite basic, more of a trier than real class.

I suspect this fight would just look like a guy that is naturally intuitive fighter against a hard worker, good, perfectly decent, but would be out of his depth and outgunned. Well, I don't think it'd last long anyway.

And whilst Macklin attempts to apply pressure he will be standing up to whats coming back ? Golovkin is technically superior and he's bull strong. Like a previous poster said, bad fight for Macklin.

GGG destroys macklin the game is all about levels and quite simply GGG is a level above.Macklin didnt beat sturm ,to win a championship you have to take the belt from the champ whatever people think about decision he didnt.

Sturm carries none of the power that GGG does.Mid to late stoppage.jamie moore hurt macklin what would GGG do.

If Macklin was to win he'd need to adapt his style a bit like he did in the Martinez fight, you cant just put gung ho pressure on a guy with huge power and great timing like Golovkin has, it would be diasatrous. Macklin would need to pick his shots, move quite a bit and keep it at more at range. Get his shots off and then move off, avoid a war at all costs. Unfortunately I dont think Macklin could do this for 12 rounds, although he'd have success early. Even with a smart gameplan, GGG would be connecting with his own shots as Macklin gets his off. He'd would eventually break him down and stop him mid to late rounds. very good fight though.

GGG vs Chavez has GOT to happen.

Talk about "styles make fights"! Let Macklin fight Barker or Lee.
