Just wanted some opinions on this.

I like classical guitar, just started to learn, and I've noticed it is very hard on the fingers and forearms when trying to play quickly.

Should I devote even more time to playing in an effort to:

    - Add strength and stability to my lower arms so I can punch harder
    - Add mass (in the form of callouses) so my punches are heavier
    - Improve rhythm so my footwork is more effective

    ?

Probably a silly question but I would appreciate serious answers, thanks.

P.S. - I can buy thicker strings to improve any benefits

Learn to play hardcore rock songs to get faster hands too.

    lmao

I think a piano would be better for you. not only are you using your hands, but your feet simultanously. you might be able to replace it with your roadwork/park walks.

when you get advanced you start using the guitar whilst dancing.

    the above develops

-strength and endurance in fingers/forearms and calves.
-fast twitch muscles for explosive power.
    -ability to multi task
    -hand:feet coordination

Yeah it's good, if you hold the guitar high, it will help you keep your hands up.

Thanks to those who replied seriously, and in advance to anybody else who has something positive to say.

It is a great idea to play guitar and dance, but I'm not much of a dancer and already get a cardiovascular workout from my job as a mystery shopper (where sometimes I will cover distances of fifteen miles or more).

    Piano sounds viable.

Well I do other types of experimental training too. I stopped eating fruit and vegetables for a month, just made me feel a bit stodgy in the stomach. Tried not stretching for a few weeks but it made me feel dizzy.

Also, I was wondering about applying for a job in a restaurant kitchen for the washing up which is great for the wrists. But I suppose that's a stupid idea too

Not a silly question at all. I advise you to incorporate some table tennis into your schedule too. That's what all the great old school boxers did.

Nice idea. My friend plays table tennis and clocked me good when I sparred him, maybe that's why.

    Can't see it personally :huh

Nothing wrong with alternative methods. I noticed in particular that swimming made me feel fitter in the gym and chess has improved my spatial awareness and I now see punches coming from slightly further out.
