Matthews: If the fight is to happen again, we want double or triple the money

You can bet the purse for Crolla/Matthews wasn't as big as the purse for Bellew/Chilemba so yeah these two deserve at least double for another fight.

 

I think its one of those their last fight was for the British so they probably got paid more that. The sheer nature of their fights means that they understandably want decent money to go at it again.

 

True,both there last fights were on a small hall shows so this was the best offer they had at this moment in time with Hatton and Coldwell not having a tv deal of there own.I think they deserve more for a third fight fight but in it`s a bussiness and the money some fighters would like is not there at the moment.

 

It's a Commonwealth title fight Derry, what are you expecting?

He's still living in the past when he fought Rees for the European title twice and got decent money.

The third fight should headline it's own card, then they will get more money.

 

Eddie Hearn has openly stated he will show fighters the budgets of his shows, you cannot ask for more than that!

Interesting how both Crolla and Derry have said this though.

 

He got paydays back when Sky and Setanta were spending money to get the sport on TV. Those days are over and you only get big money if you can draw TV. Derry just isn't a TV name.

 

Wasn't it purse bids?. Not sure what Derry was expecting. Think maybe he doesn't fancy a third fight.

 

TBH if they don't like the pay don't take the fight.

 

I think if the 3rd goes ahead which I don't think Derry is keen on it will be top of a bill. With a decent undercard it would still do 6000-7000 at the Echo.

In fact Bellew v Chilemba could be the chief support this time round

 

Aint Crolla moving down to super-featherweight? i dont wanna see a third cos if crolla wins there will be a fourth fight.

 

How much did they get paid then? That was a great production on Saturday night - came across really well on the tv with a cracking atmosphere (well until Bellew went into his shell). Matthews and Crolla turned out to overshadow the main event but then again it's all about levels and Crolla and Matthews were part of the overall night. As decent a battle as it was, they're not top class. Matthews has been in and out of the last chance saloon like a yo yo and was dismantled by Rees, who was in turn treated like a ring mop by Broner. So decent battle as it was we weren't looking at people who are going to be invested in as future world champs there.

To be fair though look at Derrys face in that video he looks in a right state, hes putting his hands in water straight after cos of the bruising. If i was him i would want alot of money to do that again they fought twice now and although i thought different he hasnt lost either, why would he go through it again if the money aint right. After all its his job
