Steve Kim @stevemaxboxing 1 Apr Its ironic to me, guys like Pac/May do big PPV's and they get ripped for match-ups. But others get a pass to try to become PPV stars... This is a fair point. Ward is being transparent in saying he wants to become a PPV fighter. I guess he feels entitled to that after cleaning out the SMW division and being known as one of the best fighters in the sport. But.... It doesn't work like that. Like I said, GGG is best opponent for Ward at the present time. He's undefeated and everyone thinks he's a killer. Ward schools him and will get credit and a lot of global exposure. This is what he needs IMO.
Steve is acting like Ward didn't fight anyone of Note in his division... And he wants to pick on smaller fighters.. Thats totally false.. Ward is the real deal.. he fought the best in his division. Unlike Void he fought everyone and in a row... Props to Ward!! The 168 pound King!
I thought Golovkin "didn't make sense" for any other Top MW's who are even less popular than Ward at this stage, yet he's the stepping stone to global exposure? That's not directed at you Fred. Just.. this place is funny.
No it's not all that matters. I care about fair competition and level playing field, a guy who doesn't belong in a weightclass but uses weight cutting techniques in order to compete with smaller men is a disgrace.
So you have a twitter account, with no followers, where you just abuse people who are more successful than you?
No worries Hands. I am somewhat inconsistent in my opinions of GGG but I'll try and explain how I see it. For Martinez and Chavez - high risk, low-medium reward since they can get same type of money fighting pretty well anyone and are proven draws. Quillin, Macklin are ideal opponents for GGG next as it would be perceived to be competitive with a good TV push behind it. Winner would become logical next fight for someone like Martinez and bigger than it would be now (more $$$). Ward, well, he has nobody to fight. Already cleaned out 168 and wants to become a PPV fighter. There's really nobody at 175 for him right now either (Bute-Pascal winner maybe). Taking on a perceived killer would get hardcore fans excited, keep him busy and, well, it's a fairly easy fight for him to win.
