not even the bosh? that is funny. The polls are nice. Usually when I have a poll the results are much different than I thought. It is 0-9 now that Tarver was great, but someone should vote for him as a great.

 

Personally no, it depends where you draw the line though, I personally don't consider many HOF's as great.

Definitely a very hard LHW to fight though on his day

 

I have no idea what Tarver did that would warrant calling him great.

 

I am a believer that someone inducted into the Hall of Fame should be great. They inducted Gatti this year, which I know Gatti was a warrior and exciting and fought his with his heart, but Hamed and others were more skillful fighters.

 

I voted "great" so that he'd at least have a vote.

Tarver was a great amateur. So yes, he was great.

 

And make no mistake about it, Tarver had the win of our generation. It's become popular to say that Roy was past it, but that's mostly bull****. Roy had conditioning issues for his first fight with Tarver, but everything was back to normal for the second fight. Roy looked fine during the first round before getting blasted out. It was the loss itself that ruined Roy. I'm sure he would've beaten Johnson handily if Tarver hadn't knocked him out.

Tarver is a tad underrated IMO, I voted great but I would prefer an option between the very good or great, anyway, underrated fighter.

 

No, he is not an ATG....he is great, it´s different !!
And to be fair I think in 80% of these threads I voted in the option great, I think most of the fighters Boxed Ears chose were greats...

 

He's got 1 great victory and he struggles in his next 2 fights against Johnson and only 2 years after Jones, he got schooled heavily by Hopkins. That's not a great prime. He was a very good fighter.
