Edison Miranda was a very good athlete. He lacked technical ability, ring intelligence and toughness though.

The best athletes in the world play world level Sevens. Be objective and watch a world class Sevens tourney on tv,then get back to me.

I'm a Leaguer and I honestly used to think Sevens was a joke but the talent pool is so deep now, due to it being an Olympic Sport, that world class Sevens players must be mentioned in any "best/fittest athlete" conversation...

I'd rather watch my dog sh!t then a bunch of guys carrying around an oversized and ill-shaped American football, incidentally a sport they could never play.

Seriously though, I'll check it out.

I'd have to say American Football has some of the best athletes. Football players have to be strong, fast, and agile. Not much long term endurance, but definitely explosive

I guarantee you that there are far more NRL players that could make it in the NFL than NFL players that could make it in the NRL.

As somebody who works in professional rugby I can tell you that is definitely not true. Strength is the basis of everything, everything can be developed from that. NFL players are phenomenal strength/power athletes.

Not only sthrenght(wich is the/a base for speed). Also cardio is the base of everything (arguibly even the base of strenght itself). And flexibility have nothing related to strenght. There is also body-space coordination wich is also physical hability.

"Athleticism" is an english term very ambiguos...athleticism in what sense?

Completely untrue. 'cardio', if you mean aerobic fitness that's the opposite of strength and power, going for long jogs will be detrimental to strength and power. Coordination and motor learning is improved by strength training as well.

Well, sometimes when I don't train my cardio I feel more exhausted with my strenght exersices in less time.So in macrocycles wich must I priorize first, a more cardio oriented etape or a more strenght oriented etape?

I could go on arguing that Roy Jones is one of the greatest athletes of all sports!

Not sure why Americans (yes im American) seem to think that the NFL is the measuring stick for athletes. If the NHL, NBA, FIFA, etc. held combines we would have a different view.

It's like because someone is black and muscular, we equate them with athleticism. You realize there are soccer players that can run 4.2 40 yard times, hockey players that do a bunch of crazy **** WHILE ON SKATES are also very fast and athletic.

:patsch I'm not talking about the pretty code, I'm talking about Rugby ****in' League. You seriously don't see how the fitness requirements and the removal of protective equipment might be a concern for someone making the transition from American Football to League(not Union)? We'll just agree to disagree.
