Getting ahead of themselves and trying to impliment complex strength and coniditoning protocols before they've even nailed the fundamentals.

As for actual boxing skills, most of them usually stem from the feet in my experience.

True. You really don't appreciate how good Ali, Mayweather etc. were/are until you get in the ring.

If you're going to copy one boxer, wouldn't Ricardo Lopez be the best bet?

Turning away when getting hit. Leaving themselves open for even more punches.

    The bow and arrow.

    Throwing arm punches off balance.

Sticking the chin out when they throw.

    Telegraphing big time.

    Slapping.

    Turning away from punches.

I'm new to boxing; what does this entail? i understand the idea of it, but how is it done?

Arm punches, not turning the hips with the punches?

At this point I fall under the category of noob who thinks he is Roy Jones haha.

Pushing punches means no snap. They're not hitting with speed through the target, they're shoving at it.

Yup you got it, arm punches are thrown with no foot pivot or turning of the hips.

Everyone tries to mimic rjj or mayweather. I keep my guard high and tight, don't care about looking cool when I spar.
